Peralta, Alvarez Shine in Spring Training

Met's pitcher Freddie Peralta made his second start of spring training on Sunday against the Yankees. He ran into trouble early, giving up two runs in the first inning after a triple, a single, a stolen base, and another single. But he bounced back strong. Peralta and catcher Francisco Alvarez talked it over in the dugout. They noticed the Yankees were looking for his fastball, so they mixed in more changeups and breaking balls over the next two innings. That led to four straight strikeouts. Peralta wrapped up with two earned runs over three innings and just 45 pitches. He said facing traffic early helped prepare for the regular season, and the adjustment limited the damage. Manager Carlos Mendoza praised their quick connection. The pitcher and catcher built a solid rapport even before Cam started. Mendoza noted Alvarez asked smart questions and Peralta gives great feedback. There are already in sync after pitchers and catches reported.
