From Birmingham, this is your March 14th update. A Pensacola Police Officer faces serious charges after his arrest on Friday. 32-year-old Pierce Cotton from the Pensacola Police Department is accused of a third-degree felony for having sexual intercourse without. Telling his partner, he has HIV. Florida law makes it illegal for someone who knows they are HIV-positive and has been warned about transmission risks through sex to proceed without. Full disclosure and consent from the other person. Cotton has a notable background in the department. Back in February, 2023, he received the Life Saving Award for resuscitating a man who was drowning in a hotel pool. Right now, the department has placed him on administrative leave while an internal affairs probe gets underway. Officials say they are handling the matter seriously. Jill Records confirmed Cotton posted a $10,000 bond and was released Friday afternoon. His mugshot remains private under state law. Appreciation to our sponsor for backing this episode.
