A pedestrian accident shut down part of Lee Boulevard in Leewood, Kansas for almost 3 hours late Thursday morning. Police arrived around 11.30 a.m. after a woman crossing the street got hit by a southbound car. The crash happened in the 8,400 block, where there is no crosswalk. Northbound traffic had stopped, but the southbound driver still struck her. The woman suffered injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The closure stretched from 83rd street to 85th terrace, causing big backups for drivers in the area. Early checks show speed was not involved. Officials wrapped up the scene quickly to get traffic moving again. Lee Boulevard has since reopened, but police remind everyone to use crosswalks and stay alert on busy roads.
