They have told him he will be released when the newly year starts next week. This move helps them clear some salary cap room. By announcing it early, the Patriots open the door for another team to trade for Diggs before the deadline. He has $6 million guaranteed coming up if he stays on the roster past next week. Diggs bounced back strong this past season after a torn ACL the year before, with the Texans. He played all 17 games for New England, hauling in 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. In the playoffs, he added 14 receptions for 110 yards and a score, helping the team reach Super Bowl 60. Over the last eight years, he has topped 1,000 receiving yards in seven seasons. Releasing him, says the Patriots $16,800,000 against the cap.
