Patriots Host Wheatley, Stribling for Pre-Draft Visits

The New England Patriots are ramping up their pre-draft evaluations with two more prospects

on their official 30-visit list.

Penn State Safety Zeki Wheatley and Ole Miss Y receiver Dijon Stribling are both headed

to Foxboro for meetings with the team.

Wheatley stands six feet three inches and weighs 201 pounds.

He switched from corner back to safety after his red shirt freshman year, and played in

58 games with 28 starts over five seasons.

He has six interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

This fist of Patriots pushed a bolster their secondary, after signing all pro-Kevin

Bayard to a one-year seven million dollar deal.

Meanwhile, Stribling is a big play X receiver at six feet two inches and 207 pounds.

He blazed a 4.36 second 40 yard dash at the combine.

His college path took him from Washington State to Oklahoma State and then Ole Miss, where

he totaled 216 catches for 2000, 964 yards, and 23 touchdowns across 56 games.

These visits highlight the team's focus on speed and range at key spots.

Last year, six of their 11 draft picks had made similar trips beforehand, showing how

seriously they take these meetings.

As the draft nears, expect more moves like this from the Patriots to build depth for

the long haul.
