Patrick Kane Honored for NHL Record

The Detroit Red Wing celebrated Patrick Kane in a special pre-game ceremony on Wednesday night. They honored him for becoming the all-time points leader among US-born NHL players. Kane hit that mark with his 1375th point back on January 29th. The event took place before their matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights at Little Caesars Arena. Kane spandly joined him on the ice, including his girlfriend Amanda, son Trick, parents Donna and Patrick Sr., and sisters Erica, Jessica and Jacqueline. Kane got emotional watching a tribute video with career highlights. It featured messages from teammates like former Black Hawk Jonathan Toes and ex-record holder Mike Modano. Modano praised Kane and said he always knew he chased down the record. Little guest presented cool gifts. Modano gave a frame display with a record puck, score sheet and arena glass.

1:00USA Hockey's John Van Biesbrook handed over a photo collage of Kane's international career moments. Teammates Alex DeBrinquet and Dylan Larkin gifted US theme power gloves for Kane and a mini pair for Little Trick, who put them on right away. This is Kane's 19th NHL season and third with Detroit after 16 stellar years in Chicago. There he won three Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013 and 2015, plus top awards like the Heart and Art Ross trophies.
