Parkside on Fifth Closes After 30 Years

0:00Birmingham story is making news on March 13th. Parkside on 5th, the beloved bar across from Avondale Park in Birmingham, is shedding its doors for good on March 27th. The owner, Tim Burton, shared that he's heading into semi-retirement in Greensboro, Alabama after nearly 30 years running the spot inside the historic Avondale marble works building. Burton has deep roots in the neighborhood as a founding member of the Avondale Park historic district and he admits it's emotional to leave a place he truly loves. In the first week of April, the space will reopen briefly to sell off furniture, fixtures and equipment before Bert puts the 1902 showroom up for sale or lease.
