Parker Evans: New Tuskegee Aviation Student

0:00Here's more Birmingham news for March 4th. Central High School senior Parker Evans from Tuscaloosa marked a big milestone on March 2nd. He's one of only 30 students accepted into Tuskegee University's Aviation Science program, which relaunched in 2024. Evans scored a $50,000 scholarship for his bachelor's degree in Aviation Science. The program offers training at Moton Field, the birthplace of the famous Tuskegee Airmen. Parker shared his excitement with family and friends, calling it an honoring and humbling moment. He's chased his dream of flying since childhood, and one relative served as a red-tailed pilot in World War II. Tuskegee's story program trained the nation's first black military aviators after legislation passed in 1939. Recruiters say they're thrilled to welcome students who will build on that legacy of excellence. The four-year track requires a 3.0 GPA, Strong SAT, or ACT scores, an essay, plus medical clearance and background checks.
