Panthers Sign Hometown QB Will Grier

0:00On April 21st, the Carolina Panthers just brought back a homegrown talent to their quarterback room. They signed Will Greer on Tuesday morning, making him the third signal caller behind starter Bryce Young and backup Kenny Pickett. Greer is a Charlotte area native who grew up playing high school ball right here in the region. Back in high school at Davidson Day, he shattered records, throwing for nearly 5,000 yards and 77 touchdowns his senior year. It earned him national player of the year honors. He went on to college at Florida and West Virginia before entering the league. The Panthers drafted Greer in the third round back in 2019 to backup Cam Newton. He started two games that year, his only NFL action so far. Since then, he's bounced around teams like Dallas, Cincinnati, New England, the Rams, Philly and back to Dallas. Most recently, Greer was on the Cowboys practice squad last season before hitting free agency in March. This move bumps the Panthers roster to 75 players and coach Dave Canalas likes keeping

1:02four quarterbacks for training camp. With the NFL draft kicking off Thursday, they might add more arms, but Greer's local ties and experience give that cubie depth of familiar boost hitting into camp.
