Panthers Sign AJ Dillon: Power Back for Depth

With the NFL today, March 18th, the Carolina Panthers lost running back Rico Doudal to the

Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency.

To fill the gap, they signed AJ Dillon to a one-year deal on Wednesday.

Dillon stands six feet tall and weighs 247 pounds, making him one of the biggest backs

in the league.

The 27-year-old starred at Boston College before the Green Bay Packers drafted him in the

second round, 60 second overall, in the two.

He spent his first four pro seasons with the Packers, peaking in 2021 with 803 rushing

yards and five touchdowns.

His numbers dipped later, but he still tops 600 yards in 2023.

Dillon missed all of 2024 with an injury, then joined the Eagles where he played just

seven games for 60 yards on 12, carries.

In Carolina, Chewbah Hubbard will lead the backfield next season with Dillon likely in

a supporting role.

His power-running style and solid receiving skills, over 20 catches three straight years

in Green Bay, could add depth.

Plans for Dillon will take shape in training camp and the preseason, giving Panthers fans

something to watch this summer.
