Panthers Draft Monroe Freeling: Homegrown Talent

0:00On April 24th, the Carolina Panthers just grabbed Georgia offensive lineman Munro Freeling in the first round of the NFL draft. This young talent doesn't have a ton of starting experience yet, but the team sees huge potential in his skills. He's the latest Bulldog lineman to go high, following guys like Amarius Mims last year, and Broderick Jones the year before. Freeling was chilling with family and mountain pleasant South Carolina when the Panthers called at pick number 19. His agent had tipped him off that Carolina would snag him if he lasted that mong, but Freeling played a cool, saying he took it with a grain of salt. His reaction hit hard, pure shock, calling it surreal, and still sinking in. Staying in his homestay feels perfect, just a three hour drive from family, even closer than his time in Athens. He knows plenty of local fans, and his brother bald basketball at Queens University right there in Charlotte. Now Freeling lines up blocking for quarterback Bryce Young and running back Trevor Eddien, both with Georgia ties.
