Page Narrows Lead in NC Senate Race

Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page has widened his slim lead over long-time Senate leader Phil Berger and the North Carolina Senate Republican primary. After election night total showed Page ahead by just two votes, the count of provisional ballots from Gilford and Rockingham counties boosted that, margin to 23 votes. Meanwhile, the race remains razor thin and under 1%, so it could head to a recount following the county canvas on March 13th. Both candidates also have until March 10th to challenge any ballots they view as invalid. Election officials in both counties held bipartisan meetings Friday afternoon to review and approve those provisional votes. In Rockingham, Board Chair Don Powell praised the process and stressed the local board's strong integrity even after a brief office closure earlier in the week.
