Packers Trade Gary, Release Jenkins for Cap Space

They traded defensive in Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys for a fourth round pick in 2027, saving almost $11 million. They also released veteran offensive lineman Elton Jenkins, which freed up over $19 million against the cap. These moves happen Monday, right before the league year kicks off Wednesday at 3 p.m. When every team must be fully compliant, the savings do not yet account for signing their upcoming draft class. Jenkins, a 30-year-old pro-bola from 2020 and 2022, started at multiple spots on the line over seven seasons with Green Bay. Gary faced hefty-based salaries of $18 million this year, and $21 million next. Several manager Brian Gutekunst called Jenkins a top versatile lineman and great leader. So far in free agency, things have been quiet for the Packers.

Ryan signed a three-year deal worth $33 million, including an $11 million signing bonus. He stepped up a center last season and ranks high among centers in pay.
