General manager Brian Guterkunst pulled the trigger to avoid paying a $6.25-million-dollar roster bonus to this Friday. Hobbs joined from the Las Vegas Raiders, but struggled in his new role on the outside. In Green Bay last season, Hobbs played only 11 games with five starts, logging just 358 defensive snaps. He allowed a high passer rating against him and had no picks or many breakups. Injuries kept him sideline, and the team saw him as a poor fit outside, rather than in the slot where he thrived before. This move saves the Packers from further commitment, but hits their salary cap hard. They already paid a $16-million-dollar signing bonus, and now face $12-million in dead money spread out. As a post-June first cut, $12.8-million charges the cap until June 1st, then $4-million in 2026 and $8-million in 2027.
