Open 24 hours

0:00Have you heard of the 24 hour Waffle House challenge? It is why 101 out of an Allison. It sounds interesting. Basically the challenge is you go into a waffle house, you camp out for 24 hours and eat as many waffles as you can. Yes. There are some competitive eaters doing this and eating like 12 waffles in an hour. Oh my gosh. There's a lot of waffles. I feel fairly confident I could do a waffle an hour. Yeah, a waffle an hour. I mean, but that is still 24 waffles at the end of the day. That's a lot of waffles. Yeah, but you're spreading it out. You're pacing yourself. I feel like I could do it. But most people are dropping out after just six waffles. And they're like, that's enough. The whole house challenge for me. Yeah, but what did this make you think of, Allison? I miss stuff being open 24 hours. Like, yeah, waffle house is open 24 hours. That's awesome. But pre pandemic, there used to be a lot more places open all night. Yeah. And I miss it.

1:00And it's like, what do you wish was open 24 hours? Maybe it's something that's never been open 24 hours. Like for me, Starbucks should be open 24 hours. Okay. Okay. I really miss Walmart being open for 22 hours. And I know that's like a basic answer. But whenever you go to work as early as we do, sometimes a quick run into Walmart at four o'clock in the morning is necessary, except I can't do it anymore. Absolutely. I can't tell you how many times we were doing something on the air, whether it was something like a mash it up Monday, or a stunt, like cracking eggs on your head where, you know, I would need to go to Walmart before the show started. And you go in at like 4.30 in the morning, pick up the eggs, pick up whatever it was that you needed, it was the best. One time I went into Walmart for something we were doing on the show, I got a beef tongue. Remember that? I need to. I got a beef tongue at like four o'clock in the morning, and I want to be able to do that still. That's fair, but I can't.

2:02601, 995, 1017, what stored you wish was still open for 24 hours a day, or even one that you wish would start being open around the clock. Absolutely. 601, 995, 1017, Rachel agrees about the 3am Walmart shopping trips, that was the best time to go to Walmart. It really was like college me. That's where I did all my grocery shopping, because typically I can get the best prices there. And I loved going at like 3am when they were just restocking the shelves. And no one else was in there. It was quiet, peaceful, best time. I guess because for the last three and a half years or so, I've been waking up at three o'clock in the morning that I forgot about how glorious the going out, close in the bar until 2am or later, and then going to McDonald's. But apparently ever since the pandemic, McDonald's are not open 24 hours anymore. That is so rude. It's disturbing. It really is. Like why, can we, the pandemic's over.

3:02Let's open them up back 24 hours a day. Yeah, we need that. We need our little thread of hope after a night out. I know. Oh, that's so good though. You know what? What I would love one of these dumb studies who get money to study things that nobody asks, anyone to study anyways, like we have all this information about how Gen Z is drinking less than millennials and partying less than all the previous generations. What if the biggest contributing factor is that places like McDonald's aren't still open whenever the bars close? Um, yes. Like how much that was part of the going out experience. It wasn't just the going out. It was then going to get some greasy food to like sit and chat with your friends and wind down the night. That was part of it. Tracey texted us and said, open up the dollar general's 24-7. Us rural folks need our stuff and things late at night and early in the morning. I love it.
