Oliviyah Edwards Joins Gamecocks, Boosts Top-Ranked Class

0:00On April 28th, top five star forward Olivia Edwards just locked in with Don Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team. The 6-foot-3 standout from Lincoln High in Washington State signed her letter of intent on Monday, boosting their 2026 recruiting. Class Big Time. She's the number 3 recruit in her class according to ESPN and the McDonald's All-American. Edwards had originally committed to Tennessee last September and even signed back in November. She got a release from that letter of intent and re-open her recruitment this past April. That move came amid a rough stretch for the Lady Voles, who saw a player's hit the transfer portal this year. Staley couldn't hide her excitement, praising Edwards for her scoring, passing, ball handling, defense, and high basketball IQ. She called her a true competitor with the drive to keep improving and their pump to build around her skills and intangibles. The timing was perfect.
