We're back with another edition of the Letterman Live Recruiting Podcast. This time it's a special commitment edition because of how high they picked up a commitment from 3 star 2028 Titan, Luke Sohada on Tuesday night. He chose the Buck Eyes over Pittsburgh with Forest and C-State a couple of other ACC programs. But he is someone that the Buck Eyes really like regardless of his offer. She and even his 3 star ranking. We're going to get into what he brings to this Buck Eyes class while Ohio State and Arthur Smith or really sold on him as the Titan moving forward. We're also going to touch on some of the visitors that Ohio State had on campus for the ball state game, including the Jacobs Brothers, who are the headliners David and Dawson, David being Ohio State's 5 star deep in Savannah in the 2027 class and Dawson being the 4 star deep in Savannah in the 2028 class that Ohio State is trying to land. And then finally our wrap up talking about my travels last Friday to go see K-Von Blackman
and Jumir Weiss playing Spring and Rio versus Charlotte Wood Madison. So we got a lot to talk about today starting with the Luke Sohada discussion. But before we get into that, I just want to let you guys know that the whole podcast that he's brought to you by Rowback right up here. Rowback.com used code Letterman20 to get 20% off your first order over at rowback.com. So thank you Rowback for sponsoring the show. And let's get into Luke Sohada discussion, which is what you guys are actually here for. This is a picture of Luke Sohada on the side of the screen. You can see just by looking at him. He's a big guy. He's 6'4", 250 pounds. Really everything that Ohio State, Arthur Smith, Kenan Bailey, one of the Titan position. He's someone that even some schools looked at and said, hey, maybe you can play offensive line first in college. I think Virginia Tech specifically offered him to play offensive line in college, but Luke Sohada wants to play Titan. Ohio State likes him at Titan. And I think if you're Arthur Smith, it's hard to not look at Luke Sohada and go, maybe we can have another Darnell Washington type 6th offensive line, man type of Titan in this offense. If you all go as well and he develops, I understand that a couple of years down the line because
Luke Sohada would have to get into the Ohio State stream and conditioning program and play well and develop and kind of become the prospect that Ohio State sees him as. But the Buck guys really do like what Luke Sohada brings to this class because of that frame because of the athleticism that he showed at Ohio State's team camp this summer. Luke Sohada earned an offer from the Buck guys after his strong performance out there June 10th, 7 on 17 camp in which Kenan Bailey at the beginning came up to him and said, hey, we're going to watch you today. He watched the first game then it was kind of quiet from what I understand. Luke said it was he watched the first game just kind of stepped away. Then it wasn't really around for the second or third game, but then by the time the playoffs came around Kenan Bailey was watching every game. Then Arthur Smith came around and started watching a couple of games. And then Mark Pantone came around and watched a couple of games. And then Cortez, Hank Dinn and Billy Fessler, and really the entire offensive coaching staff came out and watched Luke Sohada. And by the end of the day Luke Sohada was driving back to the Pittsburgh area with an offer from the Buck guys because of how he looked at camp that day. I understand like I've mentioned he could be a plus blocker at 6 foot 4 250 pounds. But he's also got some soft hands.
He looked good running around when he was at Ohio State's team camp. So I think there's a lot that Ohio's lot to Luke Sohada the like when it comes to a tight end prospect because he's going to be able to help you as a blocker. He's going to be helping us a wide receiver. And I think he's also somebody that Ohio State is fine taking a swing on this early in the class because he has to make up and the mental make up to really be a developmental guy and take his time and understand the tight end is a position where you have to develop. Knowing Luke a little bit out of that I've gotten to know him, knowing who his dad probably have coaches over at Canter Macmillan in high school over in the Pittsburgh area. There's a lot of football minds in his family. I think Ohio State understands that if they take him with this commitment right now like they did, he's going to be willing to develop in Columbus, which is the biggest thing right now, especially at the tight end position, which is arguably the most developmental position for Ohio State on the recruiting trail at this point because it just takes guys a lot of time physically and mentally to get up to speed at the college football game because of all they're asked to do a tight end whether it's blocking receiving, running routes, all those type of things. There's a lot on the tight end, it's played out of Ohio State and I think Ohio State
believes and especially our dismissed believe that Luke so high to conhandle all of those responsibilities. So that's a little bit of insight. We're going to have more of run letter row dot com. We already have had out a lot. We're going to have three thoughts. Jeremy Burman had his in Jeremy Burmian, had his in spare impact. I'm going to have a catching up a Luke this evening for a story that'll be up on Thursday morning just talking about his commitment and why he wanted to be a bug guy and then we're hoping to catch up a Luke's coach over at Canter Macmillan just to get more insight into Luke the person and Luke the player. So we're in a full coverage of Luke so high to commitment even more than we've already had but we'll have that all over on letterman row dot com. And again, Luke of so high to us on campus this weekend. Fern unofficial visit for the ball state game. When I come back after getting a drink here, we're going to come back and talk about DJ Jacobs, Dawson Jacobs, Luke so high to and all the other prospects that popped up on campus for Ohio State for the ball state game. We'll be right back in one second. All right folks, we're back then for a quick drink break and we're back because of our sponsors over our rowback again. Use code letterman 20 to get 20% off your first order over at rowback dot com. I promise if before we went to the break but now we're going to get into the visitor recap
for Ohio State this past weekend for the ball state game. The look I said a handful of prospects on campus, not their biggest weekend by far of the season but it was an important one when you look back at the list and kind of understand some of the prospects they got on campus starting with five star keepits of income and David Jacobs and his younger brother 2020 for starting events of lemon Dawson Jacobs. They were two of the highest ranked prospects of visitor Ohio State this past weekend and they're two absolute priorities for the buck eyes on the recruiting show. Obviously with David Jacobs he's already committed so the goal is just to make sure he stays in this class but Miami Georgia Tennessee other schools are still continuing to recruit David Jacobs so the buck eyes are continuing to continue to recruit him and make sure he stays from this class. They've done a good job of it so far and that's evidenced by the fact that they were to get him up on campus for the ball state game. The season opener he comes down with his whole family mother father and then again his younger brother Dawson Jacobs who I spoke with on Monday night I believe it was had a story up on letterbro.com on Tuesday just talking about how Dawson Jacobs is really starting to feel their highest things recruiting him when he goes on these visits which is important because if you're going to land Dawson Jacobs you're going to have to land him on your
own mayor. You cannot land David Jacobs and just assume that his brother is going to come with him. Dawson is an interesting individual he's different from his brother David so it's good on the buck eyes that they're starting to make Dawson more of a priority and make him feel like the prospect that's the state is wanting to recruit every time he gets on campus. I imagine David understands that as well so big visit weekend for the buck eyes with both the Dawson and David Jacobs and it seems like they knock both those visits out of the park. Beyond that list I'm going to pull it up. Beyond those two guys I'm going to pull up the list here a couple of other targets that pop the White campus three star in state defensive back to our geomagnite was a surprise addition on Saturday morning the buck eyes are battling Indiana Penn State for geomagnite so it was good to get him back on campus and get him around Tim Walton Macarrary. The rest of the buck eyes defensive back coaching staff. Beyond that you also had cave on black when we're going to talk about it a little bit he's a top target for Tyler Bohn in the office in the 2020 class along the offensive line. Top 40 guy according to rivals in the 2028 class I saw him on Friday. I think he has the potential to be that type of prospect long term and I know Tyler Bohn is a big fan of his and then a couple of other guys you had Julian Dwyer who I talked
about a couple of weeks ago from our Bishop Moldor pop up on campus. He was another guy that was kind of a surprise addition on Saturday six for four 270 pound defensive lineman that on high state I think is watching pretty closely so far to start his junior season. You're in a tough spot here because you have Jumir Weiss committed already and you are recruiting Thomas minor who we're going to talk about a minute who also visited Ohio state on Saturday. You have two sure fire and state defensive line targets that you want and you're recruiting Kellin Hall in Haveli from Washington. You're recruiting a couple of other guys. Can you offer another instant guy like Julian Dwyer if you're trying to pair him with Dawson Jacob's and Jumir Weiss and Thomas minor like is that the four man class that you want to do when I am a little bit higher and go get Aiden Haveli from Washington. I think Ohio State would prefer to go get Aiden Haveli which is why they're being so careful about offering a guy like Julian Dwyer but he is someone I think my Patricia especially will like when he turns on the tape six of four again six of four 270 pounds he's going to be able to play multiple positions in our Ohio state whether that's inside outside all over the defensive line similar to kind of like what Andrew Houston does for the
buck guys right now I think he's somebody that Ohio state will like it's just a matter of how he fits in along with the rest of the class because like I the name I mentioned earlier Thomas minor is a guy that Ohio state loves regardless of who they have who else is in this class they've already offered him they got him on campus multiple times. This off season he's six foot three 270 pounds so he's going to get a little bit bigger and be kind of a more standard to three technique maybe we have to slide in and play one technique from time to time but the buck guys really like Thomas minor and I'm excited to see him on Friday when I when I go see big one I'll take on Delaware Hayes but Thomas minor popped up on campus this weekend I think we'll feel that we'll have that happen pretty often this season because Thomas minor being in somewhere being in big one he can just slide over to Columbus and now I really have to talk about it not really have to do many interviews about where he's going and what he's doing so I think the buck guys continue to be in a good position for Thomas minor and they should be able to get him on campus multiple times I'm excited to talk to him about his recruitment when I go over and see him on Friday the last real big name guy I guess there's two the last one that's an underclass member will be 2029 offensive live in Jordan Lewis he's the number one interior offensive line
prospect for rivals in the 2029 class he's summoning the Tyler Bohn has an offer but Jordan told me he told Alex Levin from London wrote the Tyler Bohn supposed to become this week and they're going to chat I don't know if an offer comes from that but a state and Tyler Bohn are going to be keeping a close eye on the four star crossroads of South Carolina in Jordan Lewis it seemed like his first visit was a smashing success so they're going to try and get him up on campus again whether that's this offseason or even again for another game is this during the season and just see if they can continue to chip away early in that recruitment because there's still a long way to go with the 2029 recruits and then I kind of buried the lead on here but likely the most notable recruit that was on campus beside the Jacobs Brothers was 2027 running back Jordan Hall from Cincinnati Princeton High School I believe I again I believe I talked about him on this YouTube channel before when I saw Princeton take on our Bishop Molar and Joanne and wire earlier this season but if I haven't I wrote about him pretty frequently over on LetterMorod.com so you can go over there check it out one dollar for your first five days go over check it out read all the stuff that we have up there in the past couple days and you can read even go back and read what I post about Jordan Hall when I went and saw him earlier and at the end of August so Jordan Hall again he was
the former Miami High School I will commit but balled out against our Bishop Molar in the week one he's added offers from Penn State Cincinnati week for us a handful of powerful programs are going to offer the Cincinnati native and Ohio State join that list on Saturday I think Ohio State now with that offers looking hey can we get two running backs in this 2027 class Jordan Hall and maybe turn our robert's who we talked about a good bit as the guys that are on the board after David gave our George's committee to Tennessee I don't know how exactly that'll land at this moment I think don't think Jordan Hall is in a rush to make a commitment I imagine he'll go see other schools I don't think uh turn our robert's is in a rush to make a commitment but the buck guys like both those guys and I would not be surprised if they ended up with a two-bat class after our high-state offered Jordan Hall on Saturday for the ball one he visited from the ball state game we're going to take one more quick break because I keep I keep running out of my voice and I don't want to sound more gargly or gravely whatever you guys however it does not come across I'm sorry for that but I'm gonna take a quick break get a quick drink and we'll come back and talk a little bit about cave on black one versus jimir weiss which is the game I saw on Friday night when it's
Springfield and in Toronto would Madison face stuff all right we're back after that short final break here before we finish up the podcast again I appreciate you guys for tuning in we talked about the loop so how did it come in we talked about Ohio State's visor list from the ball state game and now we're gonna wrap it up talking about my travels last Friday to see cave on black who is in a high-state offensive line target in the 2029 B class go against Ohio State's defensive line commitment in the 2028 class jimir weiss not jimir weiss didn't plan the first half I'm not exactly sure why that was but he played in the second half and he got a handful of snaps on defense so we got to see a little bit of jimir weiss versus cave on black when it wasn't a lot but there were a handful of snaps and you could see both these guys kind of trying to figure out how to handle a prospect of this caliber cave on black when didn't go against a lot of guys that have the length of jimir weiss he did go against some shorter stouter guys that were able to kind of power through him and that's something cave on black when it's gonna have to work on he needs that an anchor he needs that a little bit more strength to his base he needs to add some more power but the fluidity of the movements goes the feet were all there for cave on black when I'm not telling any cave on black when stock after seeing him last Friday I just didn't want more aware of what he needs to
improve on and that's his base in his anchor would jimir weiss I think it's just continuing to develop his hand usage and making sure that he is able to be able to get off people and create past rush because he has all that skill set to be an impact player in the pack like when team strap back the past and he can go against guards and try and get sacks and get even tapless for loss in the run game so the hand usage getting off of blocks creating more space and separation from offensive lineman is the big thing that i think jimir weiss has to work on it both those guys continue to develop on the trend that they're currently on i think one they'll both be good players in college and i think they'll both end up being good players for the buck guys again the highest day got cave on black when i camp this past weekend jimir weiss is already committed to high state has the battle ten to see and some other schools four cave on black when i think but i think the buck guys are in a good position here's a quick shot of cave on black when from Friday you can see right there six foot six two hundred seventy pounds but looking at getting a stance has a good base has good power he's able to get down drop his hips it's more just about making sure he has more behind his hips so he has the power he has the base and the anchor two stop of the fenders and
kind of anchor when they kind come through with a bull rush that was his big struggle on Friday night i'll admit that then cave on black will tell you that as much this spring for the loss and it wasn't his best game but all the things that he struggled with are very like fixable with your tetherbone if you're a high state so it's easy to see why he is a priori for the buck guys it's easy to see why they wanted to get him on campus on saturday for the ball state game and then which of mere was it's just about again continue to develop that handy usage but i don't take a high state as any concerns after working not a camp this summer excuse me i think Larry Johnson i think we go Patrick are both sold on what you're wise can be long term so it's just about continuing to develop and that so that's a little bit of my thoughts on cave on black when jimmy or was i appreciate you guys tuning in it's a short kind of a short abbreviated show today we don't have a big visitors list but we did have a commitment from loop so high to who we talked about again if you want more coverage of that go over 11 more calm if you want more coverage on david jigg up stelsea jigg up the whole visitors list go over 11 road dot com and if my again my road notes from last friday on cave on black when jimmy or was our on letter road dot com as well you can get all that coverage checking out one dollar for your first five days you will i've not i promise you
enjoy those five days you want to be sticking around and hang out and let them relax message word for longer than those five days if you do take advantage of that introductory offer and that's just the recruiting coverage mr. whole brook jimmy burrowing hammer had it down awesome texas for the texas game this coming weekend i know that's the big thing on most of high state fans minds and understandably so it's going to be a big weekend for the buckais on the team side and not a ton of going on on the recruiting site because it's an away game but jimmy burrowing hammer smithor whole brook are both going to have you covered from austin texas letter mrow is going to have you covered every step of the way so make sure you go over to let him row dot com check it out subscribe make sure you like and subscribe this video as well i just want to thank you guys again for tuning into another edition of the letterman live recruiting projects we're going to keep getting better keep getting better and have a good rest of this football season with this recruiting show so thank you guys for tuning into another show
