Nvidia's Stock Splits: Making AI Investment Accessible

About this episode

Nvidias strategic stock splits since 1999 have made its shares affordable, with the latest ten-for-one split in June 2024. These splits have kept the company accessible as its value surged, especially with AI demand on the rise. Without the splits, a single share would now cost over $160,000.

It's March 31st. I'm Corey with The Story, and this is Durham News today, your AI-powered local news. In video, the AI Chip Kingpin has split its stock six times since going public back in 1999. Stock splits just multiply the shares and drop the price per share to make it easier for everyday investors to jump in without changing the companies. Total value. Their latest was a huge 10 for 1 back in June 2024. That first split hit June 27th 2000, a simple 2 for 1, followed by more in 2001, 2006, 2000, 7 and 2021. Each one kept shares affordable as in video's price climbed with the tech boom, especially now with AI demand exploding. Investors love it because more shares mean the same ownership slice, but at lower entry prices. Take that 2024 split shares went from around $1,200 to $120. Even dividends adjusted up for old holders, while the company uses cheaper

shares for employee options and buybacks, fast forward to end of March 20th, 2006, and video traded around $167. But get this, without those six splits, that same share would cost over $160,000 today, way out of reach for most folks without fractional trading. Just like these, keep in video accessible as it keeps soaring, so if AI high pushes prices higher, bet on more coming down the line to let more players in the game.
