Norris Returns to Keenan Basketball

0:00On March 21st, longtime Kenan High Boys basketball coach Zach Norris is back on the job. The school announced his reinstatement Friday after he missed the entire season. At 68 years old, Norris has coached for more than 40 years, including 27 at Kenan. The suspension stem from South Carolina high school league rules violations last summer. A player not yet enrolled practice with the team seven times. Penalties call for Norris to sit out the first 13 games in playoffs, but school paperwork delays kept him sideline longer since he was. Technically retired until January. Parents raise concerns at a March 10th Richland, one school board meeting over lack of transparency on the handling and season impact. Norris returned for practices then, but watched games from the stands, including the Class III, a lower state championship loss to Fox Creek. Norris plans to coach three or four more years, and thinks his bench presence might have swayed that close to feet. The Raiders spend a second in their region despite the absence.

1:00With most players returning, including all-state talent, Kenan drops to Class II A next season. Norris expects a fired of squad ready to build on this year's run.
