NFL teams are heading to Phoenix for their annual league meetings starting March 29th, where they'll discuss at least two proposed rules. Changes from the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns want to let teams trade draft picks up to five years into the future, up from the current three-year limit. They say what sparked more trades and give clubs better roster building options. This idea draws from basketball, where the NBA allows trades seven years ahead to avoid disasters like the old Cleveland Cavaliers trading away. First round picks. Even now, trades are hot. With six of this year's 32 first round picks already swapped. Meanwhile, the Steelers proposed letting teams have video or phone chats up to one hour each, with as many as five unrestricted free agents during the two-day legal tapering window before free agency. An agent would join those calls, building on a trial run this year that they want to make permanent.

1:02The competition committee might add more ideas, but any change needs yes votes from at least 24 of the 32 teams to pass. The Daily News Now is made possible with support from our sponsor, your pillow, your podcast, your moment, made for listening in bed, S-O-L-I-S-O-L-Pillow.com
