This injury completely changed WrestleMania 42. The real reason Ronda Rousey turned up at AEW and WWE is hopeful that this injured star will return before WrestleMania 42. Are you ready? For the news time, my name is Phil Chambers. I'm joined by Gareth Morgan to talk all things wrestling news. But first up, Ted DBS Jr. has been found not guilty of all of the 13 charges that he was facing. These include things like embezzlement, conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering.

This is all kind of part of a big welfare fraud scandal that includes the kind of DBSC family and a bunch of others including an NFL legend Brett Favre. They were accused of inappropriately receiving millions of dollars of government funds. The maximum prison sentence that he could have got from this was 160 years, which is insane. This was because he accepted nearly three million dollars in federal funds that were designed to help poor residents and he spent the money on luxury items. The government needed to prove that Ted DBSC acted knowingly or with intent as part of their case. And his defense of it was that he never solicited the funds himself. He was offered them in exchange for the cachet that he brought to the welfare agency with his sort of name and connections kind of thing. And that he delivered what he promised in terms of that. And yeah, obviously today he has been found not guilty of all of the charges. Now this has all come from the Mississippi today

that I got this from. They also say that by some estimates, the state and nonprofit officials fritted away over a hundred million dollars between 2016 and 2019 while serving very few needy residents as part of this scheme. Now he was one of eight people that were charged and the other seven people all pled guilty to this. So they're feeling a bit sick today. But that includes Ted DBSC's brother, Brett DBSC. Now all of those, they've not been sentenced yet or anything, so nothing's come of that, that's sort of soon, I guess. But in terms of Ted DBSC, he has been found not guilty. So he is free to go. So yeah, like a crazy story this in terms of what happened and just people frittering away welfare funds, which is a pretty dodgy thing to be doing. But yeah, not guilty, but still took three million dollars from a welfare fund. Yeah, still not the best thing in the world, is it? But I mean, the key headline is

that they're not guilty, isn't it? That's kind of what's been doing the rounds online. A lot of people have been like, okay, now what do we do with this information? Yeah, it's a strange one. I'm not going to pretend to know too much about the welfare funds and all the rest of it and the ins and outs of all that. But yeah, I think the key thing I'm attaching on to is what you just said there about all the other people that have pleaded guilty, but they just all sat there like, oh, what have we done? We've made a mistake there. That's a good thing. Yeah, great. And we've all been reportedly cooperating with the sort of investigation behind it and things. And I think the state is mainly trying to get as much of the money back as they possibly can, which is why it's kind of dragged on for so long because they're trying to figure out what they can do there. Yeah, and just hopefully, I think probably the key thing with all this is the people that needed that help, like the money and everything else. And yeah, make sure they're looked after as best they can or just just find it a way forward for them because this is just rich people just doing silly stuff for the money at the end of the day.

They're going to be fine, I guess, when it's all said in Dumbraz, people who probably needed that money are the ones who are going to be the real victims there. So absolutely. Yeah, let's make sure they're looked after as best we can. Right, moving into the more wrestling side of this wrestling news. Dave Meltzer has been handed again in the old wrestling observer newsletter, talking about all the buildup to WrestleMania. And we now all know, obviously, one of the big marquee matches at that mania is going to be Randy Orton versus Cody Rhodes for the WWE title. And another one that's heating up and heated up a novel awful lot last night on SmackDown is Drew McIntyre versus Jacob Fatt too. But obviously, we've reported or not reported, like aggregated and spoken about an awful lot. I've had that these plans have been up in the air. Like a lot of stuff has been changing in the last couple of weeks, couple of months. But apparently, one of the key things that has caused so much of this change, not just the fact that probably all the fans were going this sucks, we want something else.

We don't want to see Cody versus Drew again at WrestleMania. One of the key things that has inspired it, the change, is Bronson Reed's injury. Yeah. And obviously, there's been a lot of injuries going around, especially in the vision. The vision of this has been bitten well and truly by the injury bug. But Meltzer has reported here that the Bronson Reed injury for whatever reason was the clincher of the idea to go with Rhodes versus Orton and McIntyre versus Fatt too, in singles matches. Few other little things to chip away out within this, like, paragraph of Daveness. Originally, the Rhodes versus Reigns match, which is one of the ideas, was, it seems there was talk of Helena Sel. For that. I'm not sure if we might mention that at some point in the last couple of weeks, Oblars together. There was talk of, like, potentially Helena Sel match with those two. And then, obviously, things changed, Reigns moved into the punk, fighting, like, position, all that kind of stuff. So, there's some people saying that, oh, does this mean that the Helena Sel could fall into, like,

the McIntyre Fatt too stuff, or maybe even the Cody Randy stuff? Like, the Helena Sel has been mentioned. It's up there. It's in the air. So, could it be thrown into one of those matches? I could see it probably working a little bit with both of them to be honest right now. In terms of the Rhodes versus Orton match in particular, though, that was apparently always the direction. So, they were always going to get to that. But, originally, that was planned as Cody Rhodes major program after WrestleMania. And that's calling to Dave Meltzer there. So, a lot of things to unpack there. But I think the biggest one where I'm like, what is the Bronson Reed injury? Was there was the real thing that changed everything? It's not really specified why that injury caused all the change. Maybe it's, like, vision-centric stuff. And there was a whole plan with, like, some of the major or Orton that's doing that, but that's over on Raw. This is the SmackDown kind of side of things we're talking about. So, it is a bit confusing. Yeah. It's either maybe it's, like, one of those chain reaction things where one thing in a chain means that leads to one thing, which leads to another thing, which then leads to another thing, and then it kind of breaks down everything.

Or it's just Dave just saying things. Yeah. Also, I sometimes just missed it looking back into it. I think when it was Rhodes versus Macinty, there was also talk of Helena Sel, without just just throwing that in there as well. Helena Sel just seems to be... It really just went out of the cell. It really went out of the cell. I mean, I really went out of the cell. I'm quite happy to go out of the cell, whenever it's built properly, but... You can't just keep talking about Helena Sel, and they're not the little Helena Sel, but let's go out of the cell. We'll be upset if we don't get it. Here to tell you that the HBO original comedy series The Comeback is back for its final season. On the official comeback podcast, join host Evan Ross Katz along with Lisa Kudrow

Stream the comeback on HBO Max and watch the comeback podcast on HBO Max or listen wherever you get your podcasts. But yeah, it's nuts how cursed the vision is as a group in terms of injuries, really. And yeah, obviously when you've got plans for something like a big show like WrestleMania or like one injury can mean you've changed one match, which means you're moving someone from one match to another match and like that can change a lot of different things. But yeah, exactly how it fits together. Dave should probably elaborate on a bit. Yeah. He's gonna say he changed everything. Why? It just did. Why? Explain yourself. But he probably won because he's Dave Meltzer. Yeah. There's what he does. There you go. But speaking of Dave Meltzer, he has also got in the observant news letter. The real reason why Ronda Rousey showed up on AEW Revolution

and it's a classic Larry David move. It's just spiked basically. It seems to be the move here. She's just opening up a spiked star live on AEW. So he says that a source close to the situation is saying that this is because of a vendetta that she has against TKO. Now Ronda Rousey is fighting Gina Carano in like both of their returns to MMA. And that's going to be in May by most valuable promotions which is Jake Paul's thing, if I'm right. And streaming live on Netflix. No, the source is not up who Jay. But you should have mentioned that name. I'll mention that name. So that was originally supposed to be happening in UFC obviously owned by TKO who owns WWE. That's where the connection lies. So on UFC, it was going to be on pay-per-view and that's how the kind of compensation model was set up in terms of how much she'd get paid for this match. And then TKO kind of changed to a streaming model and changed Ronda Rousey's agreed compensation

based on the streaming model instead and kind of in the assumption that she wouldn't have anywhere else to take the match, which is when she was like screw that and went elsewhere to get more money basically. So it seems like the AEW appearance is just kind of part of that screw you to TKO. It's going to be a one-off. It seems like it's not been confirmed that she's doing anything else with AEW. Ronda Rousey hasn't promoted AEW in any way since and usually she's quite hot on promoting upcoming things that she's doing. And Tony Khan kind of mentioned it in the press conference after AEW revolution but by no means confirmed that anything would be happening. So it seems like it could just be a one-off appearance that she did to help promote her fight that's going to be on Netflix obviously. But also just a little sort of middle finger to TKO and in part WWE at the same time. It's very Ronda all this. It is. It's very Ronda. And that's just what you get. That's what you pay for Ronda Rousey.

I think when the other press conference she wasn't shy about saying like the White House card for you at the upcoming UFC White House show look crap. It's just very honest and she's very open about how she feels about it. Anything. So this feels like a typical kind of move in that sense. Great for us as fans because it means we just get these moments that are quite electric and like, oh wow, okay. That's happened. I didn't see that coming and you get this interesting world now where does Ronda Rousey do something? AEW just to spike TKO and WWE in UFC even more. It's like, you know what? I'm going to go and have a match. A Wembley now just to really rub it in. I'm like, yep, do it. Spike for Ronda Rousey. Just get this fight out the way and then be like, yeah, yeah, I can go back and do some more wrestling things. It's couple months after. You can do all that. Obviously it depends on how the fight goes. When lose our draw really with that, she's still going to be Ronda Rousey. So it'd be great. But yeah, the idea of like, I think Spike for Ronda Rousey is money to be honest.

I think it's that thing of, you either love the fact she's doing like, I don't know if the Red Dungeons were like kicking off you like that or you don't like that and you want to see you get beaten. So either way, you want to watch Ronda Rousey. So for me, yeah. I mean, I'm in some more of this. Yeah, more Spike, I say. More Spike in wrestling. That's too much. That's too much. CM Punk's been too unspiteful for me. We need more people with Spike. Some Venom. Let's get some Venom in there. Somebody able to speak to see a book. Somebody who's been quite linked to him heavily over the last couple of months before he had an injury. It was Bronbreaker. Yeah? Bronbreaker. He's obviously injured right now with a hernia that he had emergency surgery on, I believe it was. And that was like after the Royal Rumble. So it's been, it feels like it's been six months, but it's only a couple of months ago that that happened. And it's, it threw a lot of things up in the air. We're like, well, what's going to happen now with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania and like, but there was apparently like going to be CM Punk versus Bronbreaker again at WrestleMania at one point. And it's just been a bit like, ah, what's coming next?

So WrestleVotes radio on Fightful Select has reported that I source at WWE TV this week as actually expressed a sense of optimism that oh, Bronbreaker could actually be cleared and could return before WrestleMania which would mean, I don't know, there could be some plans that leads to a WrestleMania match with, well, anybody Seth, Seth makes the most sense, but you never know of this crazy wrestling world. There is sense to be a plan in order for breaker for WrestleMania if he does get cleared. So if he does get cleared, they know what they're doing. If he doesn't get cleared, don't see here in the notes that they know what they're doing. So we'll just have to see if, it feels like one of those where they are crossing everything that he's back. Because if he's not back, I don't know what you do with Seth, maybe the Logan Paul thing, but we've seen that at WrestleMania and I don't want to see that again. I'm quite, I'm quite, I'm okay. Yeah, it's, there's a lot of this WrestleMania that's just like, almost like they're just waiting to see what my crop up to be able to do something. Obviously this one is like,

all injury related or a lot of it is all injury related because then there's all the Gunther stuff with like Rey Mysterio getting injured and now they don't know what they're doing with him. So there's just a lot of like big names in WWE that just really, really don't have clear WrestleMania paths or matches or anything. Which seems mad this close to Mania. It's like four weeks out. But hopefully if I'm on break, I'll be back before Mania or if not maybe I return at Mania itself or something, but it does seem like Seth Rollins really needs something to do on the card and obviously like he's injured as well and they're kind of just resting him up which is all the masked men thing is for. It's all a bit of a mess. Maybe they do. I'll tell you something we've never seen from Seth Rollins. Him going to WrestleMania without an opponent and doing an open challenge because I think that that would be big, wouldn't it? That would be something that probably leads to a big WrestleMania moment. I think that's fresh. I think they've never done it and they definitely did not do it in the last like five years. So yeah, definitely not. We should do that.

Just do that again. But yeah, there it is. Let us know down in the comments. What do you want to see? About all of this end up at WrestleMania. It's all kind of out in the open at the minute. So invent a card. Yeah, I was going to say you put your WrestleMania and I guarantee you'll be probably a bit more not more exciting, but just I don't know.
