New Pump House Bridge Opens Friday, US 280 Widening Project Continues

The Alabama Department of Transportation is set to open the new pump house bridge over US 280 this Friday, March 6th in the evening as long as the weather holds up. Back in November, Cruz installed the first three of five girders for this new span, which is part of the ongoing widening project along US 280. Drivers should prepare for some disruptions from the old bridge demolition, which kicks off Sunday, March 8th at 7pm with nightly lane. Closures through Thursday, March 12th, reopening each morning at 6am. That work continues with similar closures from March 15th to 19th, leading to a full traffic shutdown over the pump house road area during. The weekend of March 20th to 22nd, weather permitting, meanwhile, Al. plans to share detour details soon in the areas seen other upgrades this winter, like a new pedestrian access project announced.
