00This is Bords Radio, KFH. Jim Rom here with your Rom report. Thursday night was a bad night for the, without Cinderella's, the NCAA tournament blows, crowd. Sure it doesn't. And what a wack narrative that is. Why are so many people always looking to find the worst in anything and everything? I've said it before I'll say it again. Nothing ever lives up to the hype, except the NCAA tournament, best event in all of sports, and it never, ever fails to produce. And this year is no exception. Yes, the game has changed. And no one appreciates a long shot or an underdog coming out of nowhere to shock the world more than I do. And yes, nothing would have been better than seeing Sienna shock Duke in the first round. But the fact that they did or that some directional school that you've never even heard of didn't advance to the sweet 16 does not mean this tournament isn't still nails because it is. How can some of you enjoy anything when you try to hate everything? Life is way too short. You are missing out. Get right right now. Watch Friday nights games and you are welcome.

10McDuffy is going to change the game for them, he's going to change matchups and for a team already near the top. I like what they did, they want to stay on top of that mountain. Now you got a guy who's going to make you a whole lot better and it will come down to this. It's still Matthew Stafford, if Matthew Stafford is able to stay upright for 17 weeks, Rams are the team to beat. I thought they were the team to beat last year, but look, they had a glaring weakness and I love the fact that they were aggressive. You give up a lot and I thought, well, Kansas City is getting rid of a 25-year-old defensive back. Now, somebody's going to have to pay him and he's going to make $25 million a year probably, with the Rams looking at this and saying, maybe we have a two-year window with Matthew Stafford, let's go get it again. The Dan Patrick Show. Dan and the Danettes, and you. Midday's from 11 until 2 on 97-5 in 1240 KFH. 97-5 in 1240 KFH.

19Every score, every swing, every sharp take, bad MGM tonight continues with Brad Evans and Pat Boyle. Welcome home back, bad MGM. The night westward one starts his Brad Evans on Pat Boyle, the phone number to join the program. The call or text is 310-840-4910, that's 310-840-4910. We are your nightly central sports hub, so we will keep you posted on all the live games going on. Of course, breaking down all the top news and headlines of the day, great games from this past weekend. We talked a bunch of final four, speaking of which, on the women's side, they're going to have their final four set tonight, elite eight in the in region three, one seed Texas crushing two seed Michigan 20-6 in the first quarter. So it looks like the long ones are headed to the final four and then I'd be very surprised

20if Dawn Staley and the South Carolina game cocks don't join them. They're taking on TCU tonight, South Carolina a heavy favorite. So you got the women's tournament keeping us busy and then also a very, very busy first Monday night of the season for Major League Baseball. We were talking about Munitaka Murakami, the White Sox rookie. The White Sox have homered. It wasn't Murakami though. It was Austin Hayes with a three run shot. So it looks like the White Sox might get win number one. Yeah. White Sox might get win number one of the season. We'll see how much longer it's going to take for the Rockies to do that. They're scoreless with Blue Jays in the second inning. But let's pivot talk a little NBA here because just like that, we are two weeks away from the NBA playoffs. Every team has played at least 74 games. You've got a couple of teams that have played 75. So literally seven, eight games left. That's it, baby. And so before we get into these questions, and we'll bring producer Brandon Combson, let's just, you know, quick, the most notable parts of the standings here.

23The pistons are still the one team in one seat in the East without Kate Cunningham was dealing for that collapsed lung. Therefore games ahead of the Celtics. Now Boston's about to tip off at the Atlanta Hawkson a little bit here. That's a massive game for both those teams. The next, my New York, next to the three seed, there's six and a half back of Detroit. And it's the calves are four. And then from five to 10, you got six teams separated by three and a half games. Raptors in the Hawks right now holding onto the last two spots. And then the play internament would be the sixers magic, heat and hornets. But there are still, again, like I said, there's only seven eight games, but you could still have some late drama here. And then in the Western conference, it's really just the one and two seed up for grabs. Under with a two and a half game lead on the spurs. But after that, three through six is anybody's guess. Lakers, nuggets, T-Wolves, Rockets is how it would finish if the season ended today. But that seeding could flip dramatically. And then basically the play internament is set.

25It's just going to come down a seeding who ends up getting the home games, who ends up getting that chance to potentially play two games and still have a shot to make it. His clippers, lasers, warriors right now is the four teams in the play internament in the West. So with that being said, let's get producer Brandon Combs in here for a little MDA playoff push questionnaire. Combs going on. It's going on, boys, great weekends, sports, smorgasborg, everything. I'd be careful though with the saying that the white socks might get their first win. I thought that yesterday when they were up seven to two on Milwaukee in the eighth and they ended up losing that damn game. I'd be careful when we talk about the white socks, maybe getting a win. All right. Let's talk some MBA though, boys. Is the Western conference far superior to the Eastern conference? Because it sure as hell looks like that, Brad? Yes, it is. I have said it time and time again right here on Bet MGM tonight.

26I believe the West is indeed the best. I know you're on the San Antonio Spurs bandwagon. My friend behind me for those of you watching the YouTube stream right now, David Roberts in the admiral agrees, got the churches chicken, signed little five by eight. They're primarily on the studio wall here at Casa de Evans in the Spurs right now. I look over the last 15 games. The number one in the NBA and net efficiency. Oklahoma City is a number four. The LA Lakers have been wide hot for the most part here down the stretch. I mean, they won 13 of the last 15 games and number seven. Net efficiency. Whoever wins the West this year, guys, I've said this before. I'm going to quadruple down on the belief or they're going to win the NBA finals. Could be San Antonio, could be OKC, could be the lake show, could be somebody else. It won't make a damn bit of difference. The East, I know Pat's beloved, the NYX may be in the NBA finals. Certainly will the teams to beat on the right coast, but the left coast is going to dominate

30in the post season. Yeah. I mean, I'm a, I am a diehard New York Knicks fan, but I still think the Thunder are going to repeat as champions and the West is just so much deeper, you know, one through six in the West versus one through six in the East like the Raptors or an afterthought. In my opinion, the Cavaliers are an afterthought. James Harden is not changing anything about this teams calculus and how far they could go in the post season. So, you know, again, I got a feeling we might have a question about how many teams can actually win the NBA title, but there are way more that can do it in the West than there are in the East. And so yeah, the Western, the Western Conference, they just have way too many, they have so many very solid legit squads. So yeah, the West is more superior because it's deeper. Not often. Do you hear a team be called an afterthought the day after they win a game by 52 points, which is what the Toronto Raptors did to the Orlando Magic yesterday.

31It was incredible to watch. I look, I think Toronto is a team in the East that can be sneaky. Same way, I think Charlotte is a team in the East that can be sneaky, but they're only sneaky in the East. The Western Conference is, I mean, just to me, it goes, it goes Thunder spurs, everybody else. That's just the way that it is right now. It's either the Thunder or the Spurs, whoever wins that match up between those two in the playoffs is winning the NBA title. All right. Other than the top four teams, which we just mentioned, they're OK, C, the Spurs, the Pistons, the Celtics, does anyone have a legit chance to win an NBA title? Pat Boyle, we'll start with you because I think there might be somebody you want to throw in the mix. Yeah. Yeah. Blast me. You didn't even include my New York Knicks who made the conference finals last year. They've got the same core as last season. Why can't the Knicks? Why can't the Knicks win the NBA championship? Why wouldn't they be a legit threat?

31I mean, they're 48 and 27. They've beaten like last year, oh, the Knicks can't win a title. They were all in 10 against the Thunder and the Celtics and the Cavaliers, all the other best teams in the NBA and the Knicks have won the season series against Boston. They beat the Spurs in the NBA cup championship. They've beaten the Lakers multiple times. They've crushed the nuggets. They haven't beaten the Thunder. They went in two against the Thunder, but both of those games came down to the last two minutes. So, yeah, the Knicks can absolutely have a legit chance to win an NBA title. And then look, I'm not going to assume in my head that there's going to be like rupture to kill these tendons for all the superstars like there was last year. I mean, injuries aren't part of the game, but just on paper, I still think there's other teams that have a legit chance to win the NBA title. I mean, this is still the same nugget score that won a title a couple of years ago. You have Yokech and Jamal Murray. You are, you have a legit chance to win the NBA title, absolutely. The way the Lakers have played here down the stretch, they've won what, 14 out of their

33last 16 games. Yeah, the Lakers have a legit chance to win the title. So I would say there's at least three other teams outside of the top four records in the NBA that can win a title this year. No doubt, there's seven or eight teams, honestly. I'll even throw the Timberwolves in that, in that equation because they've been to back-to-back conference finals and Anthony Edwards as much as of a, of a critic I've been of his sometimes, that's because he's raised the bar to, you know, borderline top five player in the game. So yeah, there's, there's seven or eight teams that can win a title this year. Yeah, I don't disagree. I might whittle that list down to like five or so, maybe six. I don't know if I'm going to expand it to seven or eight, but he held it even the Atlanta Hawks. I mean, that sounds outrageous, right? The Atlanta Hawks even being in contention, but there could be a playoff team and they're white-stinking high guys. Right now, if you look at what the Hawks have done, by the number two, a training only San Antonio and overall that efficiency over the last 15 games in which they've won 13 of those 15. So they continue to brief fire here in the NBA postseason.

36Hell, man, you never know. The Atlanta Hawks could be in the mix when it's all said and done. Again, my list is not as big and as expansive as Pats, but certainly at least five, six teams in the discussion. I'm so certain the Atlanta Hawks will not win a title that if they do win a title, I will pay an all expense trip for the entire staff for us to go to Magic City to go celebrate the Hawks title. Whoa, that's how certain I am, the Atlanta Hawks will not win a title. I'm in. All right. In the East, just three and a half games separate the five through 10 seats. Currently, Toronto is the five seed, Atlanta is the six seed. Do both of these teams finish as the five and six seeds or is at least one of these teams a play in team, Brad? Yeah, Atlanta is going to definitely finish a ball of the play in line. You look at Toronto in terms of recent play, I mean, they're the one team we got to worry

38about. They have a whole home, a wildly mediocre number 12 and overall net efficiency. They're eight and seven and last 15. They're playing just kind of average or slightly above average basketball. So if there is one to regress, I would say it's the Raptors, but again, Atlanta folks, they're number two in that efficiency last 15, which at one 13 or last 15, they are peaking at the right time. I could seem jumping a line and that being Toronto's in the end. So I would say the Raptors, the one most likely to descend and reach playing in status, but I think Atlanta is going to avoid it. I think both of them are going to be playing teams because again, I think the Raptors are an afterthought. Yes, they did crush the magic by 52 points yesterday. That's another play in team, the Orlando magic. But no, look, the Raptors, they finished, they played Detroit tomorrow, which winnable game with OKCunningham. I don't think they'll win it. Detroit basically is sitting on their starters tonight against OKC.

38So I think that's a game that they will be rested and revved up to go forward tomorrow. They still have to play the Celtics. They got to play my nicks and they got to play the heat twice. I don't think the Raptors who only have one game cushion on the Sixers are going to avoid the play in tournament. And I don't think the Hawks are going to do it either. I know they've been red hot, Brad made a lot of great points. The Hawks have been awesome. They're 13 and 3 or 14 and 3 in the last 17 games here, but they also have a tough schedule to finish. They got to play the Celtics. They got to play my nicks. They got to play the Cavs twice. They got to play the heat and they got to play the magic. So I think the Sixers and look, nothing would really do my heart joy more than to see the Sixers crash and burn. But they got MB back for now, for now, Axis back. All Georgia's suspension is over. They've won both their games since those three guys have come back here. I think the Sixers get into the top six. And then I'm holding out hope. They're running out of time, but I hold on the whole not hope my Charlotte Hornets, my little step brother this year, the Charlotte Hornets can make one final run here.

41Maybe they go seven and one or six and one to finish the season. And they got to play the nets. They play the Pacers. Then they do finish with the T-Wolf, Celtics, Pistons and nicks. But maybe, maybe the top three seeds will be locked up at that point. Those teams love nothing to play for. Those are a couple of gimme wins for the Hornets. Maybe they sneak in. I definitely think Toronto doesn't finish in the top six. They're going to be in the play into ornament. But it wouldn't shock me. They're if Atlanta ends up there as hot as they've been. I think the Hornets and the Sixers can sneak in. Hmm. That's interesting. All right. Let's go to this one, assuming nothing changes. Which current Western Conference first round playoff match it will be the most intriguing to you. Is it OK? See versus whoever wins the eight seed San Antonio versus whoever wins the seventh seed. Lakers versus Rockets or nuggets versus T-Wolfs. Most intriguing first round matchup. Pat. Hmm. Hmm. Uh, nuggets T-Wolfs or me. Uh, look, I mean, you, you got legacies on the line there.

42Yokech and Murray in this current core of the Denver Nuggets, which feels like they might be another year, year or so away from like breaking that thing up, whatever it is. One way or another. I remember they fired Mike Malone last year, which is a couple of games left to go in the season. And then they put up a, a hell of a fight against the Thunder and sent him to a game seven. So that's the champs from a couple of years ago versus Anthony Edwards and the T-Wolfs. The Ant-Man. He's gotten to the conference finals each of the past two seasons feels like he's got to start breaking through. Right. If people want to think he's going to be the face of the league. Uh, so that is, I mean, you were one of those teams going to go home in the first round. That almost seems unfair, but, uh, that's the nature of the beast. So Nuggets, T-Wolfs, me, hell of a first round matchup. Yeah. I think the Lakers and Rockets also checked that box, man. He won't talk about legacy. It's all about the prod, right? And who you've been talking about how it was thinking, how ridiculous that Luca Dontridge has played here down the stretch. He's been with the best offensive teams in the NBA. I think that would be highly, highly entertaining, uh, as, you know, opening matchup in the NBA

48postseason. I worked me down for the lake show for somebody making a good boots. You know, I had to do it, H town comes. You got an input? Yeah. For, for me, it's the, uh, the Nuggets and T-Wolfs as well. I think both of those teams have a legit shot to be a threat that could possibly knock off one of the top two seeds, uh, in that Western conference at some point in the playoff. So I think Nuggets T-Wolfs is the most intriguing to me. Yeah, none, it's not going to be the sons of the Clippers versus the Thunder because either both of those teams are going to get blown off the map. But if it's Clippers spurs, oh boy, I know coms will be sweating when Kauai is putting up 35 games in San Antonio and the Clippers have a two one lead spurs sweep. Oh, baby. All right. Quick, uh, quick break. Photo number to join the show is 310-840-4910. That's 310-840-4910. When we come back, we'll start dipping our toes into Indianapolis.
