Two Australian sailors are believed to have been on board the nuclear-powered US submarine,

which torpedoed and sank an Iranian warship of the coast of Sri Lanka.

It's understood they were on the vessel as part of the Orcas Training Rotation,

meantime the federal government has confirmed military assets have been deployed to the Middle East,

but what and where is not known. The UK is sending additional fighter jets and other

resources into the Middle East as the conflict escalates, officials are responding to a drone attack

on a key British military base in Cyprus, amid criticism of the response to the conflict so far,

British Prime Minister Kia Stalmer says they have the right plan in place.

While cat helicopters with anti-drone capabilities are arriving in Cyprus tomorrow,

the defence secretary is on the ground in Cyprus right now,

coordinating our work and meeting our brave servicemen and women.

Back home Radical Group, his butteria has been banned,

under new hate laws in Australia, Chris McCarthy explains.

Anyone who continues to be involved with his butteria will now face up to 15 years in jail,

after the federal government confirmed it has been officially listed as a prohibited hate group.

It is now a criminal offence to be a member of recruit for or provide training or funds to

the organisation. The Home Affairs Minister says the listing sends a strong message,

the spread of hatred and extremist rhetoric will not be tolerated.

Tony Burke says the new laws are designed to stop organisations which are sowing the seeds of

division in the community. In Sydney, Chris McCarthy, nine news.

Australia and Canada have signed deals to enhance cooperation across defence,

critical minerals and technology. Canadian Prime Minister Marconi is leaving Australia after

a three-day visit, where he used a speech to call for greater strategic collaboration

between global middle powers. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the relationship between

our two countries is entering a new phase. We're backing our shared economic security

with a new clean energy partnership, updating the Australia Canada tax treaty,

and importantly, deepening our cooperation on artificial intelligence as we go forward.

New South Wales independent Helen Dalton has ruled out contesting the federal seat of Farrah,

saying she's decided to stay in state parliament. A by-election will be held on the

9th of May to replace former Liberal leader Susan Lee, who quit politics last month after being

rolled by Angus Taylor. New rules requiring all Australians to prove their age in order to

access adult content are expected to be in effect by Monday. Social media sites,

search engines, pornography websites and gaming providers are among the platforms to be

affected by the change that may involve photo ID, credit card checks, age estimation or similar

tools such as those seen being used to enforce the social media ban.

Final Queensland residents are bracing for heavy rainfall as a tropical load draws closer

to the state's coast. At this stage, it's considered unlikely that the low will develop

into a cyclone before it makes landfall. And safety advocates are calling on employers to treat

sexual harassment as a preventable workplace health and safety risk, not an HR matter.

The Institute of Health and Safety believes the management of workplace sexual harassment

prevention must be embedded into everyday systems. Chairwoman Cili Arentonowski says the

upcoming International Women's Day is a timely reminder that more work needs to be done.

This is absolutely a workplace issue and should be treated as such.

Sexual harassment occurs at work when culture and systems allow it to happen.

And so, you know, we need to treat it like any other workplace hazard.
