Then for a pre-built one, it turns out that the labor we put into a project, a sweat, a confusion over the instructions, and even that one extra screw we have left over creates an emotional bond with the object. It isn't just about saving money, it's about the sense of ownership that comes from transforming raw materials into something functional with your own two hands.
