NAACP Image Awards Celebrate Black Excellence

0:00On March 2nd, the 57-annual NAACP Image Awards lit up the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Saturday, February 28th, hosted by Dion, Cole. It was a star-studded showcase of Black Excellence with Ryan Kugler's Vampire Film Centres sweeping the night by grabbing 13 awards out of. 18 nominations, including Best Motion Picture. Michael B. Jordan earned the top entertainer of the year honor, while Miles Caden shown his breakthrough performer. Delroy Lindo picked up Best Supporting Actor and addressed the recent BAFTA snub, thanking fans for their support during his acceptance speech. Viola Davis received the Chairman's Award and shared a powerful reflection on her journey, from a tough childhood to a life of success and hope. Samuel L. Jackson also took the stage in traditional African attire to honor the late Reverend Jesse Jackson, who passed away earlier that month on. February 17th, praising his lifelong fight for jobs and justice in the community. Other highlights included, Salt and Peppa getting their long-deserved recognition and Dion Cole kicking things off with a hilarious opening prayer that had everyone laughing.
