Murder Conviction Overturned: Field's Twisted Tale Continues

The 35-year-old was locked up for a minimum of 36 years back in 2019 for killing 69-year-old University. Lecturer Peter Farquhar in May's Morton, Buckinghamshire, back in 2015. Judges ruled the original jury at Oxford Crown Court got bad directions on key evidence about Farquhar drinking spiked whiskey. They ordered a retrial, but said prosecutors could take this rare case to the Supreme Court to fight it. Field targeted elderly folks like Farquhar and his neighbor Ann Moore Martin, an 83-year-old retired head teacher. He faked relationships, spiked drinks to mess with their minds, and tried to trick them into changing their wills for his gain. He got extra time for fraud and burglary on both. This appeal came through the Criminal Cases Review Commission, under special rules, even without fresh evidence. Field's team argued the law got twisted by Moral Bias, while prosecutors insisted he played a direct role in the death.
