Motorcycle Crash in Alabama Turns Deadly

On March 1st, a man and woman riding a 2024 BMW S1000RR left the road on Alabama 281 around 2, 40 APM, and struck a guardrail. Both the driver and passenger were thrown from the bike and suffered critical injuries. They were airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment. The passenger, 34-year-old Rachel M. Smith from Asheville, fought for her life but passed away on March 12th, 11 days after the wreck. The driver's current condition remains unknown, according to the Alabama law enforcement agency.
