Morris Releases Statement After Prison

Former Gateway Church pastor Robert Morris walked out of an Oklahoma prison this Tuesday after

serving six months behind bars.

He pleaded guilty last October to indecine conduct with a child, tied to sexual abuse

he admitted to against Cindy Clemashire back in the 1980s.

Now he's heading to Texas to finish the rest of his 10-year sentence on probation.

In a statement right after his release, Morris kept his short and real, thanking folks who

send letters and prayers during his time inside.

He read everyone, he said, and they hid deep.

He spoke straight to Clemashire and her family, owning up that what he did was flat out wrong

with no excuses.

He's carried that guilt for years, grateful they brought it to light for real healing.

He asked publicly for their forgiveness again, after getting it privately way back, and

prayed for their future peace.

Morris also apologized to the wider Christian community for the hurt, confusion, and damages

actions caused believers everywhere.

He gave props to the jail staff too, calling them professional and decent and tough work,

saying he gained real respect for them.

Looking ahead, he leaned on scripture from Galatians about reaping what you sow, but

held onto grace for a fresh start if you turn it around.

With probation on deck, he's committed to making that shift count.
