About this episode
If the Philadelphia Eagles trade A.J. Brown for a 1st round pick, what will Howie Roseman do with two picks on Day 1? Could he trade up to find a new replacement for Brown, that can be the WR2 across from DeVonta Smith? Would receiver and a future right tackle be the 1st round priority?
Who is the ideal Day 2 edge rusher that could replace Jaelan Phillips in the 2026 rotation? What about Day 2 tight ends?
All that and more on another 7-round Philadelphia Eagles mock draft!

It might not be what Eagles fans want to hear, but I believe AJ Brown is going to get traded to the New England Patriots for a first round pick. On today's mock draft Monday, we're going to explore that scenario. You are Lockdown Eagles, your daily Philadelphia Eagles podcast, part of the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team, every day. Thanks so much for making Lockdown Eagles your first list in each and every day. And thanks for making the Lockdown Podcast Network, the number one sports podcast network. I'm your host, Louis D. Biasi. Welcome into this Monday edition of the show. It is brought to you by Fandall. Fandall is giving you a way to turn that energy into an even bigger payout with wins for a college basketball parlay profit boost. Head to fandall.com to get started on today's mock draft Monday. We are going to explore a seven round Eagles mock draft in the scenario that AJ Brown
is traded specifically to the New England Patriots for the 31st overall pick. How does how he Roseman rebuild the offense at wide receiver? Who does he complement to Vante Smith with in this draft class? What other positions take a back seat to wide receiver? If receiver suddenly becomes the primary focus. So that's coming up in segment one and two. And then later on in the show, Devonte Smith is in a reason maybe for the Eagles to want to trade AJ Brown. So that's what we're going to talk about on today's edition of Lockdown Eagles. And look, I know again, as I mentioned to start the show, it's not what Eagles fans want to hear. And trust me, I want AJ Brown to be a Philadelphia Eagle in 2026. I think it makes more sense financially to move on after this season. If it doesn't work out again, I believe this passing attack is going to be much more efficient and creative with Sean Manion as the play collar. I do believe AJ Brown would be happier in Philadelphia this year compared to last season.
I think this relationship could still work long term. If not, like I said, financially, you can eat a lot less dead cap next year. I still think you could get a second to third round pick for him at 29 years old. I just think everything logistically makes more sense to move on maybe after giving this one more shot, especially when you're still in a championship contending window in 2026. But after seeing Albert Breer's report today that AJ Brown's team is exploring what candidates across the NFL would be interested in trading for AJ. That tells me that maybe he is not fully demanding a trade from the Eagles, but he is interested in playing for other teams, which to me is saying that he wants out. If he has one foot in and one foot out, that is probably not the full commitment that the Eagles will require to bring him back for this season. And so that tells me AJ, if the price is right, if the Eagles get, because they're still
even if AJ wants out, they're still not going to just trade him for anything. If they get the right price, which I think is a first round pick and according to Albert Breer, it would require at least a day one pick and another pick inside the top 100 selections of the NFL draft. I do believe that if that, if somebody meets that price, they are going to trade AJ Brown. Even though it's not what I want, that is what my head is telling me is going to happen after seeing this report, after hearing a lot of things down at the NFL scouting combined in Indianapolis last week. I was on the fence 50, 50 if he's traded or not now, I feel like I'm 60, 40, 70, 30 that he is traded. And if he is traded, wide receiver to me suddenly becomes a top priority. Yes, Davante Smith, I think is a top 10 receiver in football. I think he will take over AJ Brown's spot as wide receiver won. He will be featured. He'll get the AJ Brown workload, the targets, the passing game will run through Smitty next year.
But I do want to replace the AJ Brown in the way of having in the form of another elite wide receiver, one A, one B to compliment Davante Smith. I think Davante and AJ have showed you over the last four seasons together, not just a luxury, but a significant advantage it is to have two of these caliber of players. So I think finding the heir apparent to Lane Johnson or Wright tackle would be equally as important to replacing AJ Brown. But wide receiver right now, if AJ Brown's on the football team, I think day two, day three, it's something that's still on the table to draft a receiver, but it's not something that if they don't draft a receiver early, I don't think any of us would be upset. Suddenly, it goes from that to if AJ's traded, I think because I don't think they're going to spend heavy and for agency. I think you have to take one with a pick in the first two to three rounds. And so in today's mock draft Monday without AJ Brown, but we did get a first round pick
from New England in this scenario. I do think the Patriots will meet the Eagles asking price, which is the 31st overall selection and probably a future third round pick in 2027. I think that'll get it done. New England isn't a win now window. They know AJ Brown wants to be a patriot like Vrable wants AJ Brown back with his football team. I do think they'll get that first round pick. So the Eagles have two first to work with 23 overall and 31 with that 23rd overall pick. I did trade it to move up to 19. I traded a fourth round pick this year to move up from 23 to 19. So four spots to take the replacement to AJ Brown. And he's not the same kind of player. I'm not saying he's going to replace his production instantly, but Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper. I think would be my choice to be the new wide receiver to as Devonte Smith now is elevated to wide receiver one status. I talked to Daniel Jeremiah at the NFL scouting combined. I specifically asked him a question at his press conference about what receiving prospects
would be a good fit with the Eagles. In the scenario that AJ Brown actually stays who complements AJ Brown and Devonte Smith who could be that new Johan Dotson though with just a few touches of game unlike Dotson maybe a better version of Quest walkings you can find this deep threat or this run after the catch monster who would be a guy that can impact the game in just a few touches because Brown and Smith are target monsters and so is say Juan Barclay in the back field who would be that guy that compliments them and Daniel Jeremiah told me to player specifically Omar Cooper from Indiana and Antonio Williams from Clemson who's a slot dependent player but one of the better slot receivers in this year's class Omar Cooper though was the one that he specifically mentioned first, but he also told me that Omar Cooper will probably be a first round pick because he's not just a wide receiver three option for the Eagles. He told me he would also be an option for the birds if AJ is traded because this is the guy that is not slot dependent. He plays a lot inside but this is the modern day version like what the NFL is looking
for a wide receiver right now are I think compact like maybe they're not the tallest guys in the world but they're compact they have strong hands and traffic they they're in that middle ground of they're not too short where they can make plays above the rim like I said they can make plays and traffic they can win against press coverage as an extra receiver but they can also be shifty and play in the slot you can use them in the run after the catch game they can be vertical threats as well a JSN kind of player a Puka Nakua Amika Obuka that is Omar Cooper to me like he is what the NFL is looking for at wide receiver right now and I think with how much pre snap motion the Eagles are going to use the crossing the deep crossing routes they're going to use the better spatial plays in Sean Manian's offense that gets Omar Cooper gets Davante Smith the football out in space I want a weapon like this that can do damage like he is somebody that can break tackles and turn a five to seven yard route into a 20 to 30 yard play I think he has that
capability he can play above the rim I think he's a good route runner really strong hands is he the you know for three speed kind of guy I mean he ran a 4 4 2 with a combine but is he Davante Smith as a wiggly kind of route runner no but I think he is kind of like that Puka Nakua Cooper cup he just seems like a Rams wide receiver and I think that would be perfect for what the Eagles are trying to be which is a Rams kind of offense I was really impressed with Omar Cooper's tape he has been a top five receiving prospect for me in this draft for months now hearing DJ kind of confirm that to me at his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine puts him a top of my list as a guy that if AJ Brown is gone even if he's not I would love to bring Cooper into this offense but if AJ Brown is gone I think Omar is somebody that really fits this scheme and what the Eagles are looking for to compliment Davante Smith pre snap motion you could use him in Davante all across the formation those are two very interchangeable players that can play the X that can play
the Y that can play the Z and so that would be my priority if the Eagles do trade AJ Brown I'm targeting Omar Cooper in the draft I would love to trade up for a Jordan Tyson or Carl Nell tape but I don't think those guys are leaving the top 10 of this draft so who's next it's Mackie lemon from USC although I didn't love the week that he had the combine a little bit nervous about him it's but it's Mackie lemon it's Omar Cooper Denzel Boston Casey conception who did meet with the Eagles the Texas A and I'm receiver of those three players after the top two I would say Omar Cooper would be my favorite choice so I traded up from 23 to 19 to get him but coming up next right here on lock down Eagles we still have another first round pick because in this scenario we have the Patriots 31st overall selection for AJ Brown I'll tell you what I did with that pick coming up next but first today's episode of the lock down Eagles podcast is presented by America's number one sports

pick inside the top 100 of the next two drafts I think if the Patriots offer the Eagles the 31st overall selection this year and then let's say like a third round pick that's maybe conditional that can turn into a two in 2027 based on AJ's performance this year I think they do it because hearing that AJ Brown's team is also looking for candidates that might want to trade for him that tells me that he wants out because why would they the Eagles are not the ones initiating all of this trade talk the Eagles would not be shopping AJ Brown right now if AJ Brown did not want out so the fact that his team is looking at potential destinations to see where quote the grass could be greener that checks one of the two boxes that I needed to trade AJ Brown I needed to know that officially he he's not fully bought into being an eagle in 2026 and the other thing that has to happen is that another team needs to meet the demand of how he roseman because even if AJ Brown
doesn't want to be in Philadelphia this year I don't think it's to the aggressive aggressive point where he would say I'm just not playing and he's going to hold out I don't think he wants out that bad I think he prefer to go to like New England or Buffalo but you know I don't think if the Eagles say we're keeping you because the best offer we've gotten is a third round pick that he would not play for the Eagles next year so for me I it's the lack of commitment and it's got to be the right trade offer to move on but in this scenario I think it happens I think they will get that asking price from the Patriots who really want him I think they'll meet the value the asking price of how he roseman which is a first round pick in a future third that can turn into a second so we have the 31st overall selection I took Omar Cooper with our first pick at 19 overall traded up from 23 to 19 with the Panthers gave up a fourth round pick with the 31st overall selection I'm taking Blake Miller the offensive tackle from Clemson because even if AJ Brown is traded you could still make the argument that finding a future right tackle to replace Lane Johnson
is still the most important priority for how he roseman this off season especially in this draft where the tackle prospects on day one are very intriguing to replace Lane because a lot of them have played in college at right tackle so you know Lane Johnson with the receiver at least even if AJ Brown's gone you still have Devonte Smith when Lane Johnson's gone you don't have another guy like that that's just filling in a right tackle Blake Miller can be that guy and I think he is one of the best movers in space like coming off the line of scrimmage the explosive first step beating an edger usher to the right angle I think he's one of the better pass protectors he's one of the better athletes at right tackle in this class is he as good as Monroe Freeling from Georgia I would say no the two Utah kids probably not but if it's like Blake Miller or Kate and Proctor from Alabama or Maxi and Akor from Arizona state like that after the top three Maui Joa from Miami as well like after the top three to four tackles who's the guy that rounds out the top
five for me it's Blake Miller from Clemson I just really like an athletic tackle like this kind of like Lane Johnson I think he has really good size he has a good wing span good length which is something I think we all require in tackle especially after seeing Will Campbell struggle for the Patriots in the playoffs with those shorter arms Blake Miller checks a lot of boxes for me so I think those are the two priorities in this draft if AJ Brown is traded is replacing him at wide receiver to compliment Devonte Smith get another high end wide receiver to into this offense and the other it's one a one B with priorities for this draft the other thing to do is still to bring in a right tackle from a strong right tackle class on day one to replace Lane Johnson after 2026 and Blake Miller is somebody that I'm really intrigued by coming out of Clemson so those are our two picks we have two picks in the first round this year because AJ Brown has been traded to the Patriots for the 31st overall selection Omar Cooper the Indiana wide receiver at pick
in 19 and then Blake Miller is the pick out of Clemson at 31 we got to go with some defense though as well because AJ Brown might not be the only guy that leaves this year a star player for either side of the ball I do believe after hearing a lot about Jalen Phillips with the combine that his market's going to be too expensive for the Eagles where I think he's going to get like 23 to 25 million dollars a year I think he's going to be a little bit under that Nick Benito kind of track it's not a great edge group here in Virginia so I believe that he is going to get a bag somewhere that Philadelphia is like we'll offer 20 million a year but like 25 plus is just too high for them and so they need another edge rusher luckily for the Eagles the edge rushing group is loaded this year day one day two day three there's prospects with every that fit every kind of style you're looking for one of my guys that I really would love on day two at 54 overall the second
round who I took right here is Illinois defensive end Gabe Ackis he has the size the power the the length the strength is a hand in the dirt kind of past rusher that I think perfectly fits with Nolan Smith and Jalex Hunt if Jalen Phillips leaves give me Gabe Ackis in the second round give me somebody like Arnold and Bikiti in free agency and to me that's your top four bring Brandon Graham back for another year to be a top five player in this rotation gave Ackis I heard really impressed people at the senior bowl and interviews at the combine as well one team and executive told it sounded like it was one of our draft experts that I was talking to on I believe it was Tuesday of the combine that gave Ackis really blew them away and that he could be somebody that even surprisingly falls into the back end of day one in the first round so if he falls to 54 like he did in the smock draft I would run to the podium for him he gives me kind
of Josh sweat vibes a little bit I just think he's the perfect fit you guys know if you've listened to my show the last few weeks what I'm looking for in a past rusher if Jalen Phillips is gone and I think Gabe Ackis checks those boxes maybe more than anybody on day two gotta go tight end those well in the smock draft I took one here round three pick 68 Michael Trigg from Baylor not the blocker that I think how he roseman would prefer in this class I think he would love to get somebody more like Max Claire from Ohio State or Oscar Delp from Georgia but going edge rusher around two means I think Delp and Claire probably off the board by 68 you could trade up for those guys but I like Michael Trigg a lot I have not taken him in a mock draft yet this year he is 63 he has some crazy length plays like a spider out there with how well for his size he can high point the football and show really strong body control along the sidelines he is a really good receiving tight end that I think will be a top option in round three and so to me in this scenario you can find that
blocking tight end maybe in free agency maybe we take another one in the smock draft maybe they bring back Dallas Goddard if in this scenario of AJ Brown is gone I think there's a really good chance actually that Dallas Goddard is still with the Eagles and signs an extension in free agency but regardless even if that is the case I would still love to add a tight end with one of your first four picks because I think the Eagles want to use more 12 and 13 personnel this year at a much more successful rate than they did last year they're 12 and 13 personnel packages were abysmal so I think Michael Trigg that spidery frame he's a really good red zone target especially if they lose Dallas Goddard they're going to need to make up 11 receiving touchdowns in the red zone of 13 that Goddard had last year 11 were in the red zone that is a lot of red zone production going out the door I think Trigg he might not check that blocking box but I do think he checks a lot of other boxes for the Eagles and if Goddard and AJ Brown are gone they've got to replenish this room of
weapons around Devante Smith and Saquon Barkley so I like Michael Trigg out of Baylor we'll wrap up this mock draft Monday coming up next right here on lock down Eagles rounds four through seven but first today's episode of the lock dot Eagles podcast is sponsored by look we live in a world where you can stream anything you can order food in minutes and carry super computers in our pockets somehow buying tickets though to a live game still feels complicated hidden fees jumping prices endless steps there has to be a better way that's why I use the game time app it gives fans the advantage and makes getting tickets to you know simple whether it's NFL games concerts comedy whatever you're into it makes it so much more simple I jumped on the app to check out tickets for an upcoming game and it honestly took me just minutes you can see panoramic views from your seat before you buy which I absolutely love no surprises when you get to your seat the price you see includes all the fees so there's no surprises at checkout either two taps and you have great

draft or next year I think that's very reasonable because if not I am not trading away AJ Brown just not doing it your second round pick the decay Metcalf price is not going to get it done so I think eventually in the eagles know this is a seller's market I think the Patriots are going to have competition I think the Buffalo bills will want to trade for AJ Brown I think teams like the Baltimore Ravens will also the Denver Broncos will also be interested in trading for AJ Brown so I think you can get that compensation eventually this off season I think it's going to happen you had two first round picks I took a receiver to be the future wide receiver two to Devante Smith to replace AJ Brown it's Omar Cooper from Indiana I took an heir apparent to Lane Johnson at right tackle at thirty one Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller then got to replace Jalen Phillips likely day two fifty fourth overall Illinois pass rusher on the edge gave Accus and then I took a tight end round three pick 68 Michael Trigg I got three more picks though to round things out look the safety
class this year is absolutely loaded and I thought a lot of guys tested really well on Friday night the safety group averaged a 4.4 240 yard dash average time which is the fastest for a safety group since 2003 this group is loaded different styles of player you've got the you know coverage former DBs former corners you've got some bigger box safeties as well that can play dime linebacker pick your poison there's some high breads out there as well I do think that read blank and chip might not be worth the money that the open market is going to demand the Eagles pay him if they want to bring him back and compete with other teams I do believe that for a much cheaper rate the Eagles and yes it would be a risk going a lot younger at safety Drew McCuba heading into year two maybe another rookie starter is kind of a gamble there but you could go so much cheaper and probably upgrade what you have and read blank and chip through this draft class and a guy that I think could
be one of those replacements is a key Wheatley from Penn State I interviewed Zaki Wheatley on Thursday during the safety press conferences of the combine and I was really impressed with what he had to say about his versatility he is a former cornerback when he went to Penn State of a freshman he was a corner but he developed better as a safety and and sometimes a former corner turns safety they're great coverage defensive backs but you worry about them playing in the box you worry about them run fitting and tackling you know getting physical but Wheatley showed me on tape that that wasn't an issue at all and you can see the former cornerback ball skills like the athleticism getting sideline a sideline and in cover two situations and zone coverage you know cover six different packages he showed a lot of versatility the ability to read routes to close in on the football he's got length he's got speed I thought he moved really well in space at the combine Zaki Wheatley
would be my pick round four pick 103 I actually traded down from the 98th overall selection round three collected a fourth round pick in 2027 so now we collected a third and fourth for 2027 which I like I want to stockpile picks for that loaded draft class move down just right here five spots and took a safety that I really like that I know round four maybe that's not an ideal place to find a replacement for read blank and ship but this is a really deep class that I think in round three to four you can find a starting caliber player here and Wheatley was just really good value at that pick I think the Eagles will go safety early with one of their first four picks I do believe especially if they make a trade for AJ trading AJ Brown away and they have even more draft capital I think they are absolutely going safety early there's other guys I like in this range as well Jalen Kilgore from South Carolina he's a bigger more of a box safety hybrid dine linebacker style
ran a 442 at the 40 yard dash on Friday I like Kilgore Bud Clark from TCU tested really well he's a similar kind of bigger rangey safety Zaki Wheatley is in that group as well there's a lot of options Wheatley would be my guy at least in this mock draft and I'm going back to back Penn state players here going back to back knitting lions how about Zane Durant at pick 137 the Penn state defensive tackle who I thought tested better than anybody when it comes to interior lineman with Thursday's first practices workouts I should say at the combine in Indy Durant ran the fastest 40 yard dash he had the fastest get off time of a 10 yards split among all defensive tackles and the tape proves that to be the case how explosive he is off the line of scrimmage he is a violent past rusher there are not a lot of great past rushing interior lineman in this class I think I've said it before on past shows on some YouTube shorts as well talking about Zane Durant I think he
is a prime candidate to replace more Oujoma long term is that fastball past rushing specialist third defensive tackle to compliment what you have in Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis my final pick I'm double dipping at tight end so again I went with Michael Trigg from Baylor round three pick 68 he is a six three basketball style red zone threat a great receiving tight end the Eagles can use to replace Dallas Goddard's production but again a big takeaway I had from how he rosements press conference that I attended last week was that he is looking for diversity he is looking for complete players to rebuild his tight end room he even feels like he may be put too much stock into receiving ability at tight end but overlooked blocking a lot and that really hurt them with Grant Calcuttaire as a bismill run blocking you know lock two wasn't great in that department either Dallas Goddard really wasn't either they're going to want to bring in a blocking tight in this year whether it's through the draft and or free agency so I got Trigg I got the receiving tight end now I'm going to
get a blocker and that's Josh Cuevas from Alabama I think he is somebody that on day three I would say he's in that forward five round range I think he would be really good value here pick 179 in round five to round out this mock draft I like the idea of pairing him and Michael Trigg and going with a really young tight end room Sean Manion is has seen this before with the Green Bay Packers they drafted both Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft a couple years ago in the second and third round I can see the Eagles trying that as well and maybe going really young at the tight end position this doesn't mean you can't also sign a veteran tight end like in this scenario I would love to bring back Zacherts to have that veteran voice in that locker locker room maybe it's Michael Trigg it's Josh Cuevas and maybe it's Zacherts or maybe you do still resign Dallas Goddard you have a couple options but I do like the idea of double dipping at tight end this year especially if the first guy you get is like a Michael Trigg or Eli Stowers from Vanderbilt who had the third best
vertical jump at the combine since 1999 combining all positions he is a tall fast receiving tight end ran a four five one like if you're gonna but he's not a good blocker if you're gonna bring in a Stowers type or a Kenyan Sadeek in round one or a Michael Trigg from Baylor I do feel like you've got a probably double dip at that point and bring in another blocking tight end that doesn't put guys like Trigg off the board because of their blocking ability these guys can also grow in those departments they can develop who they are right now might not be who they are at tight end in three to five years but if they do take that route early at the position I do think they got to find a blocker at some point somewhere and I think Kwevas from Alabama could be that guy all right that's gonna do for today's edition of the Lockdown Eagles podcast let me know what you think of this mock draft hit us up on X at Lockdown Birds or our YouTube community page as well until tomorrow thanks so much for downloading watching and listening and let's go birds fly Eagles fly
