Al Jazeera, podcasts. Israeli military says it's intercepted a missile launched from Yemen. It's the first attack from Yemen since the U.S. and Israel began the offensive against Iran four weeks ago. Now for its part, Iran has maintained its retaliatory strikes on Israel with missile and drone attacks being reported. Missile interceptions have been seen in the skies of Tel Aviv early on Saturday, at least one person's been killed in the city on Friday night. Israel says cluster munitions have damaged apartments. There's also been no light-up in strikes on Iran overnight. Several parts of the capital tohran have been hit and attacks have sparked fires in the western city of Isfahan. Meanwhile, U.S. State Marco Rubio says the war with Iran could end within weeks without the need for ground troops. We're going to destroy their navy, we're going to destroy their air force and we are going to significantly destroy their missile launchers so they can never hide behind these
things to get a nuclear weapon. We can achieve – we are achieving all those objectives. We are ahead of schedule on most of them. And we can achieve them without any ground troops, without any. At an event in Miami, President Donald Trump has said Tehran wants to reach a deal despite mixed signals around negotiations. While Iran says Israel's strike son is nuclear facilities oppose U.S. calls for diplomacy, criticized the attacks, saying the undermine efforts to reach a political solution. In a statement online, he says Israel has hit two of Iran's largest steel factories, a power plant and civilian nuclear sites. He goes on to say Israel claims it acted in coordination with the U.S. and that the attack contradicts President Trump's extended deadline for diplomacy. It actually ends with Iran will exact heavy prices for Israel's crimes. In Yemen, now this follows Israel saying that it had detected a missile which had been fired from Yemen. This spokesman said that it was in support of Iran and Lebanon and Iraq and in Palestine.
He said it was the first military attack barrage, which contained a barrage of missiles. He said this operation has achieved all its goals. I'm kind of summarizing what he was saying. He said our operations will continue. Now, in Lebanon, Israel has issued new force evacuation orders in the South. The military is telling residents to move north of Zakhane River and that extends the evacuation zone beyond the Latani River, significantly expanding the affected area. The Norwegian Refugee Council says the orders now cover more than 1,400 square kilometers. That's around 14 percent of Lebanon's territory. Coming up on the take, the U.S. has a 15-point plan to end its war on Iran, but no clear path to de-escalation. So what does the military reality tell us about where the war is heading? That's the take by Al Jazeera. Get it wherever you get your podcasts.
