So I do want to start off with that because it's never disrespecting Michael Jackson over here. So when we're getting it to the goat, you know what I'm saying? I said, okay, I got my dope on me. My fault. That's the wrong drop. Shefford. All right, let me stop playing. So anyways, when it comes to the all-time King of Pop, you already know the Michael movie

1:03is out now, and theaters. Now of course, we're here to talk about music because we talk about the gaming and music IPs that notoriously affect the masses, and then you realize that because it is Michael movie, one of the tracks started to climb or have a resurgence on the charts in the one that was at the album actually was the album, my fault. So when it comes to the album that had a resurgence on the charts, it was Michael Jackson number ones. Now you probably think it to yourself. What album is that? Well, you guys, I don't know either. So let me see. Okay. So number one, when it comes to Michael is basically, is it all his hits? I think it's basically all his hits. So let me see, Michael Jackson number one. So I think it's a compilation. Okay. So it looks like a compilation. When you look it up on DSPs, it literally says compilation, and there's another track that says one more chance. I believe the number one is all the number ones that Michael had because of course if you don't know, um, Michael Jackson is one of the greatest musicians of all time. I mean, just getting that out the way. So when you look at it, Michael from a musician standpoint, safe to say, there's not too many

2:07people that compare, which is why a lot of people are upset with this movie. But then you know, I'm saying, I'm like, team, look at the state of hip hop. Like what's going on? Now, even though Michael isn't technically hip hop specifically, he's very much embraced in hip hop as he's brushed shoulders to put it lightly to, you know, to have an understatement with the hip hop legends in the game. Now, with that out the way, let's get into the analytical data of this specific movie. Because if you don't know, the Michael biopic is definitely going to get a part two, despite the critics reception. Because as of right now, you're looking at Ryan tomatoes and, um, you guys, I know that and who I think it is. Um, one more time. I know that who I think it is. Now, of course, I don't watch too many movies or TV shows, but as far as Ryan tomatoes haven't 38 percent, I don't, I don't think that's the greatest, man. I just don't like it. I don't think that's the greatest. I just don't like that shit, man. But then guess what, ladies and gentlemen, the fans spoke up and gave it a 97%. Now, of course, I don't think it's a terrible movie.

3:09I'm not going to say it's the best movie ever because, of course, I haven't seen it. But when it comes to the reviews, um, that is, it's essentially split. The critics are saying it's absolute trash. And of course, as you saw with the numbers, a lot of people, as far as the, the audience, the public is saying they very much enjoyed it. For me, specifically, I like to get into the behind the scenes marketing. And that's what we're going to do right now. So anyways, Michael, which is, of course, the biopic for Michael Jackson is having a strong presence in the movie theater. It's how right now it has earned 12.6 million. And that's his US previews, right? It's internationally, you know, a Friday domestic at 39.5 million. And the projections for this movie is 90 to 100 million plus dollars. And it potentially has the chance to break the record from music biopics as a straight out of Compton made 60 million. Now one thing I will say, you know, if we want more representation of our icons or legends,

4:11I'm not saying we need to act like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. But if the Michael movie is not objectively bad, and I'm talking about camera angles, I'm talking about lighting, et cetera, when it comes to the overall story, I'm not saying that we have to give them some grace because, of course, it's made for us. I'm just saying I will be hesitant to go out and completely bash this movie if it's not objectively bad once again, camera angles lighting, et cetera, because how in the world are we going to get more biopics green lit for us in our icons if we just come out and trash it every single time. I'm not saying you got to say it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but just keep that in mind when we're talking about Michael Jackson straight out of Compton, et cetera. These will not happen if we didn't have people advocating for it. So anyways, getting back into the sales. So when it comes to the songs boosted by the actual movie, you have classics like Billie Jean, of course, beat it.

5:13That's in new Spotify peak weeks as far as trailer buzz and release. So the trailer made the songs go up when the actual movie came out in theaters April 24th, 2026. The songs seen a very astute increase, is astute to my word, a very abrupt increase. When you look at the sales of Michael Jackson in totality, obviously, you know, he's making a crazy amount of money for his estate as you if you don't know since Michael Jackson unfortunately, you know, passed away in 2009 that state has generated over 3.5 billion ladies and gentlemen, let me tell, let me say that one time, 3.5 billion dollars with the beat. So safe to say when it comes to Michael Jackson, even after he passed away, unfortunately, his estate is still making a mammoth amount of in egregious amount of money off of his likeness and his music. So with that being said, you look at his earnings when he was very much active.

6:16And of course, he was making around billions of dollars as millions of dollars, almost a billion as he was at one point looking to buy Sony. And I don't even think they touched on that in the movie. And of course, I haven't seen it, but you know, when you're talking about other people's opinions and talking about everything they didn't see in the movie, it was a lot of people that had very detailed things that was left out of the movie. So one of them was Michael Jackson buying the ATV catalog with the rights to several artists including the Beatles for 47 million dollars. Now, why did they not show that you asked why they didn't show it? I have no idea, ladies and gentlemen. So another thing was stuff not being showcased because I believe like Jenna Jackson not being in the movie, I think, well, not her being in the movie. I think it was a, they would have had an actor for Jenna Jackson. But the main thing why they took their likeness out of the movie is because they probably didn't think it was high quality in the first place, right? I mean, that's just my assumption because I believe that Janet Jackson, Diana, a lot of different figures than I want to be in the movie.

7:17So reportedly, the third act had to get cut out completely. And before you know, people be like, well, what you get that source as you made it up? Ladies and gentlemen, let me find that right now. Let me see. Third act cut from Michael movie. Let's see. Let's see. Let's source. There we go. I want to show you how this. So basically, after a little Mickey research, when it comes to the Michael Bible pick, directed by Anton Fuqua and starting Jafar Jackson, we already covered it as far as my reaction to the trailer. So the original third act focused heavily on the impact of, oh, okay, well, trigger warning. Now, sexual abuse allegation on Jackson's life, of course, particularly the 1993 accusations involving Jordan and Chandler, and it included scenes exploring the scandal and this effect in its effects on Jackson. Now, when it comes to variety, the Hollywood reporter and others and sources close to the production, producer Graham King has publicly acknowledged the late discovered legal problem

8:22as a major surprise that forced a major pivot. So of course, no details was leaked. But when it comes to the full script pages from the cut third act, they have surfaced publicly. Only descriptions of what is covered, the changes were driven by legal constraints rather than creative preference alone. Once again, this movie has went through a lot of obstacles, even before release. And now that it's out in the public, it's going through even even more obstacles. So I think when you look at a biopic, depicting one of the greatest musicians of all time, if not the greatest, literally called, they literally gave him the name of King of Pop for a reason. Michael Jackson was bigger than life. As a long time Drake fan, you already know that I would never disrespect Michael Jackson, because of course, when certain people are able to fly based off the pathway that you trailblazed, I think you should pay respects to the old geez that came before you. So the reason why I say that is because Michael has had a lot of movies and TV shows as

9:25far as I remember it was the Wiz in 1978, where it was a scarecrow of the future film debut. Captain EO 1986, as far as the 3D Disney short, my friends is for Copola Moonwalker in 1988. With himself, it was an anthology style film with segments. The Michael Jackson's Ghost in 1996, multiple roles in the short film, Men in Black 2, 2002, he was an AGM cameo, Miss Cast Away and the Island Girls in 2004, with AGM J cameo. The reason why I'm saying all this is because Michael Jackson is larger than life. So all of these films had him in it for a reason. The Jackson's in American Dream in 1992, a TV mini series, which is a family story, MJ, not an actor, but the subject, right? If you don't know for my podcast listeners, I'm currently live on area. 10:29The documentary of final rehearsals that was post-Humans, of course. So when you look at other notable films as far as Michael Jackson, 2003 dog, leaving Netherland in leaving Neverland in 2019. A various concert specials as far as the dangerous tour and the Jackson 5 animated series in 1971. A lot of people who grew up in that time, they may be saying to themselves, this specific depiction of Michael Jackson is just not cutting it. I just don't like it, man. I just don't like that shit, man. So the reason why I say all those films is because if you want to go back and compare to what's currently in theaters, I think that's why you're seeing a lot of negative and positive critiques of this movie. Because you know, a lot of people are saying that when you look at the white watch portrayal, as far as excluding certain things like the child abuse allegations, a lot of the controversies and dark aspects of MJ's life,

11:31they don't really dive into that, right? They feel like it's more of a spoof. As far as the shallow story feels like a 127-minute trailer montage is what somebody said. But as far as the state approved, there's a lot of people who opted out like Janet Jackson. I think Diana was part of the movie, you know. When it comes to the top reason that people enjoy the movie, it was the far Jackson's performance, the music and performance recreations, and the celebration of MJ's talent and legacy. So I'm not saying the movie is terrible. I'm not saying the movie is fantastic. Because once again, I haven't seen it yet. Right now, we're going through all the review roundups. And of course, the sales, which is what we do over here in the notorious Mass Effect. As whenever a movie comes out and now a human nature track is currently rising on the charts because of the album, Thriller, and General Being in the movie, I think it is very poignant to point out that his fanbase is still very active.

12:35And I think there's activated the Michael fanbase in ways that no other project could, especially if it's not a Michael Jackson biopic. So the main thing I wanted to get into was definitely to sell. So we already got into that. I mean, the Michael Jackson number one's project is currently the 21st most played project in the world. I think it's a collection of Michael Jackson, like number one songs, I believe. Let me see. Because I believe like, let me see. So basically, it's this project. Because I know my, I know Post Malone had something like this, something like that. And when I was just talking about Post Malone had like a diamond type project where he had all the tracks that went diamond on the project, he was insane. Yeah, like none of them, that man is different. So when it comes to Michael Jackson, I would be surprised if it's the same thing. So basically, after looking it up, looking at the actual number one's album, because let's get back to Thriller while I pull that up. So the soundtrack you have, Michael songs from the motion picture that was in the movie,

13:37a total tracks of 13, that was in the movie that included human nature, Billie Jean, beat it, Thriller, want to be and don't stop till you get enough. So all of those are just anthems. I mean, you don't need me to tell you that, but those are in the movie if you was wondering. So once again, get back into the number one's project. That's currently the 21st most played track project in the world. Basically, it's a curated collection of 18 of Michael Jackson's biggest chart top and singles. Okay. So it's basically what I was saying with Post Malone. The diamond project from Post Malone, that's basically what this is obviously way bigger and better. So the number one's project has don't stop till you get enough rock with you, Billie Jean, beat it, Thriller, bad, smooth, criminal, wow. Black and white. I mean, this is a compilation book in this gracious, all those in one project. I mean, that's just insane. I mean, that's, I had to take a second, man, that's, that's, that's legendary status right there. I think what Michael Jackson means to music, what he means to music is the same thing like that LeBron means to basketball. You see LeBron 80 years old playing with his son and winning the whole playoff series.

14:39That's basically what Michael Jackson is when you think of the longevity of an icon, uh, no, the longevity of an iconic status throughout the entire career and post homies. He's still regarded as, if not the greatest, one of the greatest musicians of all time. So I just showcases the mist respect that a lot of people have for Michael Jackson is very much, um, warranted. And I think the reason why a lot of people are coming out and talking about this movie in a negative fashion is because of the shallow and spoof like, uh, coverage and people feel like they could have went on or they could have expounded upon darker details about Jackson's life. I think they really, honestly, from a person who hasn't seen it going into it, I'm going to go into it looking for a performance, right? I'ma think it's just a performance. It's, it's more like a play than a movie. You know, I think they just want to recreate a lot of different performances from Michael Jackson's instead of like, oh, this is every single detail about his life.

15:40And I think some people who was disappointed, my personal opinion is that what they, is that, that is what they was going in thinking it was going to be. So basically, uh, when you look at Michael Jackson and the historical content, thriller album did 70 million copies worldwide and it peaked as far as 1 million copies last week, produced seven top 10 hot 100 singles, which is a record, by the way. And of course, when you look at the times back then, people was actually purchasing the whole project. Unlike today, where you could pay like $10 and get everybody's catalog. I mean, you know, not to disrespect Spotify, because you know, I'm saying, you know, you know what the bread is butter and I'm saying, you God, but you know, when it comes to Spotify album music, um, the subscription price to have access to everything, it was way different back then. And there wasn't as many options not saying it was easier back then. I'm just saying it wasn't as many options, meaning there wasn't as much competition, especially

16:41if you had a person to connect you to a radio station that could put you out to the masses when technology wasn't, internet wasn't even as a thing back then. So imagine you having no tools to put out your music and somebody else who has a plug as far as a manager, a label, a radio, et cetera, it's a days age. That would be like an artist, have an Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and you don't have any of those platforms and you're trying to compete with them musically. I'm not saying it was easier back then. I'm just putting in perspective how some people talk about today's age as far as we don't have any more superstars, right? It's a very interesting conversation that we could have, but let's stick to this respect. So talking about Michael Jackson, the movie's not being received well critically as far as the public, they're enjoying it 97%. When it comes to its catalog, we surges 500 million plus streams as far as the pre-release, momentum as far as the movie pre-release, 68 to 69 million month listeners. I think it's up now, let me see.

17:42So Michael Jackson, last time I looked at it, it was like in the 70s. So, which is still insane for a post-humbest at, so 70.4 million monthly listeners. That is insane. And of course, the soundtrack, as far as the number one's project, once again, is the 21st most played project in the world. When it comes to future chart analytics, because you know, your boy takes his job serious. You know, some of them are too crazy. Let me cut that short, because I didn't see any singles on there. You guy. You know what I'm saying? So I don't think it was boosted enough to be in the top 100, because if you don't know, it may be a cause and effect of the recurrent rule, which if you don't know. If a track is popular for a certain amount of time, it has to be like in the top 25 to even be on the charts. So maybe that's what some of the tracks are dealing with, because it's no doubt in my mind that a lot of the tracks, because of the movie, is going back up into the Billboard top 100. But because of the recurrent rule, it probably can't chart. It can't chart. So anyways, that's basically what I wanted to talk about.

18:44Obviously, this wasn't a breakdown of movie, because I haven't seen it. But of course, you know, over here, we covered the gaming and music, IPs and notoriously affect the masses. And with the project for Michael, as far as number one is being 21st most played project in the world, with the thriller project getting more light and more engagement boost from the movie, more specifically the thriller album and more specifically off of that, the human nature track that came out in 1982, mind you. I think it's just a celebration across the board. And that is how we should treat it. And once again, I believe we should be hesitant because we just got a whole biopic for one of our greatest legends with a real marketing budget. And it's currently on pace to be the most successful biopic outperforming, well, estimated to outperform straight out of Compton.
