On March 21st, the University of Miami men's basketball team beat Missouri 80-66 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The Hurricanes improved to 26-8 while pulling away in the second half with a couple of strong scoring runs. Miami held a slim one-point lead at 27-26 going into halftime after a back-and-forth first half. Missouri had rallied late to close the gap, but the Hurricanes stayed composed coming out of the break. Early in the second half, the Tigers tied it up and even grabbed a brief lead with an 8-0 run. Miami quickly answered back, building advantages with key threes and fast breaks to regain control. Malik Renault led the way with 24 points, 19 of them after halftime, plus 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Trade Donaldson added 17 points on 5 of 7 from beyond the arc and Shelton Henderson chipped in 15. Miami advances to face second-seated Purdue Sunday at 12 p.m. on CBS, setting up another tough match-up as the tournament heats up.
