On April 28th, the Metz just placed Kodai Senga on the 15-day injured list with lumbar spinal inflammation, and they were called right-hander. Christian Scott from Triple A Syracuse to fill the spot. Senga looks sharp in spring training, and his first two starts this year. Striking out plenty while keeping runs low, but he got shelled in his last. Three outings, giving up 16 earn runs in just eight and a third innings with more walks than strikeouts and his fastball velocity dropping. From 97.4 miles per hour, down to the mid 90s. This injury hits hard for a guy whose battle back issues before. He missed all of 2024, dominated early last season, then faded bad. Enough to get optioned, and now the Metz sit at 9 wins and 19 losses buried early. Scott's no stranger to the spotlight. He was a top 100 prospect before Tommy John's surgery, wiped out his 2025, had a rough big league. Return last week with five walks in one inning, but he's bounced back in Syracuse with a strong 17-to-2 strikeout to walk ratio over 13.
And a third innings. No return timetable yet for Senga, as the Metz sort their shaky rotation. But getting him and others healthy could spark to turn around day. Desperately need this month. Baseball news, powered by AI. This is MLB News Today. I'm Corey with The Story.
