Mets, Peralta in Contract Standoff

0:00On this March 20th, here's what's making headlines for the New York Mets. The New York Mets and their new A's right-hand are Freddie Peralta. A Peralta look highly unlikely to agree on a long-term contract extension before the 20. 26 season kicks off. The 29-year-old is pushing for a deal around seven or eight years, but the Mets prefer something shorter, like four or maybe five years. Earlier this year, on January 21st, the Mets traded for Peralta and right-hander Tobias Myers from the Milwaukee Brewers. In return, they sent over top prospects, jet Williams and Brandon Sprote. Peralta has settled in nicely, praising the front office for their support and easy approach. Through three spring training starts, he's two in one with a 2.70 ERA, over 10 innings. Last season with the Brewers, the two-time All-Star went 17 and 6 with the same sharp 2.70 ERA across 176. Point two innings. He'll make his Mets debut as the opening day starter next Thursday at 1.15 pm
