Mets Make Spring Training Cuts, Eyeing Future Stars
About this episode
The New York Mets made their first roster cuts of spring training, sending four players to Triple-A and one to minor-league camp. These moves are part of standard housekeeping, allowing the team to evaluate players closer to the Opening Day roster. While some players like Morabito showed speed and promise, others like Tong and Pintaro had mixed results. Wenninger pitched well but struggled with control. Despite the small sample size, managers see potential in these players, hinting at possible major league appearances as early as next year.

Jonatong, Nick Morbito, Dylan Ross and Jonathan Pentaro were optioned to triple A while Jack Winninger, the only one not on the 40-man roster headed to Minor League Camp. This leaves the Met's with 63 players still in big league camp. These moves come early in camp and are not really about how the players performed so far. Instead, they help get those guys ready for their triple A seasons and give the Met's more time to check out players closer to making the opening day. roster Fans and analysts see this as standard housekeeping, with no big surprises since spring stats are just a small sample. Morbito showed some speed with two stolen bases in five games, while Tong and Pentaro had mixed results in short outings, striking out a few butt, allowing runs.
