Francisco Alvarez kept his strong start going by ripping a double and showing great rhythm at the plate. After dealing with injuries last season, he's looking sharp early this year. Mark Vintos has had a rough go at the plate, sitting at just one hit in 25 at bats after another quiet 9. The slugger has not found his swing yet this spring. Manager Carlos Mendoza pulled him a sigh for a chat and reassured everyone that Vintos is locked in on the roster. He told him to keep focusing on solid contact and defensive work, predicting he'll be a key contributor soon. Pitcher Christian Scott flashed some potential in his return from Tommy John's surgery. Still, he ran into trouble against the nationals, giving up a home run and a double to their designated hitter. Looking ahead, Sean Menea starts Tuesday against the Marlins at 1.10pm in Jupiter, Florida.
