Rumors spread on social media Friday claiming that Hall of Fame defensive tackle Joe Green had died, but the Pittsburgh Steelers quickly set the record straight. The team told outlets like TMZ that those reports were not accurate, confirming the legendary player is still with us. Sometime NFL reporter John McLean reached out to Green's family and shared that the 79-year-old is alive and doing great. Known as Mean Joe Green, he spent his entire 13-year career with the Steelers, helping them win four Super Bowls in the 1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979 seasons. He earned 10 Pro Bowl selections, five first team All Pro honors, and the NFL Man of the Year award in 1979, later inducted into. Both the College Football and Pro Football Halls of Fame, with his number 75 retired by both North Texas and the Steelers.
