McDermott, Hall-Evans Quit Fair Go, Run Independent

0:00From Adelaide, this is your March 11 update. Big news out of South Australian politics as the state election nears. Chris McDermott, the former Adelaide-Cross football star and Little Heroes Foundation co-founder, has quit Sarah Games Fair Go for Australian's party. He was said to lead their upper house ticket in the legislative council, but now plans to run as an independent. Sarah Game launched the Fair Go party back in August 2025, right after splitting from one nation in May that year. She had lined up 18 candidates and was thrilled about McDermott jumping on board, calling the response overwhelming just last month. McDermott had been now campaigning hard for the party in recent weeks. His departure comes as a blow, especially with polls showing one nation gaining ground despite games move to star fresh. Meanwhile, Jay Call Evans, who was originally tapped for the top upper house spot before shifting to the lower house seat of Colton, has also left the party. He's now eyeing a run as an independent in a coastal electorate.
