Max Scherzer Returns to Blue Jays, Spring Breakout Event Changes

The MLB regular season kicks off toward the end of the month,

but there's big news already heating things up.

The Toronto Blue Jays just made it official by signing veteran pitcher Max Scherzer,

a future Hall of Famer who's returning to the team after pitching.

For them last year, the Blue Jays are loading up their rotation this off season.

They've added Scherzer along with starters Dylan Sees and Cody Ponds,

aiming to build on their strong run to the World Series.

Scherzer first joined them in 2025 and now heads back north.

Last season with Toronto, Scherzer made 17 starts in the regular year,

logging 85 innings with a 5.19 earned run.

Average in 82 strikeouts.

In the postseason, he's shown brighter through three outings,

posting a 3.77 earned run average and 11 strikeouts.

Meanwhile, MLB revealed tweaks to the spring breakout of in.

It stays the same this year from March 19 through 22nd,

highlighting top prospects in exhibition games.

But starting in 2027, it splits into two separate single elimination tournaments,

one for Arizona's cactus league teams and another for.

Florida's grapefruit league squads.

On top of that, World Baseball Classic exhibition games

begin Tuesday with 15 matchups between MLB clubs and international teams.

Another 15 follow on Wednesday, so all 30 MLB teams get a shot.
