Mavs Fall to Thunder, Season-Worst Record

0:00For the NBA, it's March 2nd, and here's what's going on. The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a hundred to eighty-seven on Sunday night at the American Airlines Center. The Thunder, the top team in the West, dominated much of the game, dropping the Mavs to a season-worst 18 games below 500. The Mavs jumped out to an early seven to two lead, but the Thunder quickly responded with a twenty-six to ten run over the next six minutes. Shet Hongren scored ten of Oklahoma City's first thirty points, building an eleven-point advantage early. At halftime, Dallas trailed by just nine after solid play from Max Christie on threes, Caleb Martin with nine points, and Dwight Powell off the bench. Free throws from Daniel Gafford cut the lead to seven in the third, but a seven to zero Thunder spurt and strong defense held the Mav scoreless for, five minutes. Oklahoma City pushed their biggest lead to twenty-one, and the fourth on threes from Isaiah Joe. Dallas got it back to thirteen late, but it wasn't enough.
