After the match, the player showed strong support by swapping jerseys and praising their opponent's resilience amid tough times back home. Before kickoff, the Matilda's sang the Iranian National Anthem and gave us a loot, a gesture they skipped in their previous game against South Korea. This came as the Iranian team deals with ongoing conflict in the Middle East, including recent bombings. Matilda's captain Sam Kerr called the Iranians lovely on the pitch and said her team wanted to offer comfort during their stay at the same hotel. Playmaker Amy Sayer added that the jerseyswap was a small way to show solidarity, especially with the struggles they faced from their government.
