Massive Rubber Factory Fire in Trafford Park

0:00On April 26, a massive fire ripped through a rubber factory in Trafford Park near the Trafford Center on Friday, April 24. Over 100 emergency calls flooded in as thick smoke blanketed the whole industrial estate. Firefighters hit the scene hard with 11 engines and more than 50 crew members battling the blaze at its peak. The flames started outside before jumping to an empty 30x30 meter building. Firefighters got evacuated from nearby businesses and residents were told to seal windows and doors. Smoke was so thick, people spotted it from Bolton, City Center, Stockport, and even 40 miles away in Staffordshire. Workers nearby were stunned, calling it the biggest fire they'd ever seen, with flames shooting sky high. Videos captured the chaos, and people shared photos from across Greater Manchester, freaking out at the scale. A hazardous materials team rolled in to assist, and after the roof caved in, crews stuck around through Saturday and into Sunday, April 26.
