Massive Mill Fire in Radcliffe: Second in Two Years

Miles away, crews deployed jets, turntable ladders, and even pulled water straight from the nearby river Irwell to knock down the flames. A cordon stretched across the street, with police and paramedics on sight to secure things. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a huge explosion that shook the area, prompting urgent warnings for locals to steer clear and seal up their windows, and doors against the smoke. This marks the second big fire on Milltown Street in just two years. Last September, crews tackled another blaze at what locals call Pioneers Mill Down. The road, and back in 2022, a plastic storage unit went up in flames there too.
