00Hi, I'm Charmaine. Welcome to the love of self-podcast where we delve into the emotional aspects of finding love for self. Today's topic is mask. Our metaphorical mask is what we present to our surroundings based on our coping mechanisms of how we must deal with our environment. A lot of the times it's a presentation to what we believe the manner of our behavior needs in our current circumstance. It's a process of development of how we have learned to cope with how we feel and what we need to look like. Masking ourselves always appeals to someone else's ideals. Certain people in the world would have us to believe that our ego solves all our problems to the point where we become accustomed to a
01grandiose appearance so that others can feel our success, our strength, our positivity, or uplifted spirit. But that presentation that becomes a necessity in the world is so easy to help us disconnect from ourselves, our self-development, and our truth if we're not aware of it. There are some cases where our masks, our presentation can be a sign of our disconnect to our own inner knowledge and knowing. There can be a sense of everyone else knowing the presentation that we bring unless us taking the time to know the truth within ourselves to understand what's really in our heart and mind. If we become too aware of what's outside of us and not enough aware of what's
04inside, the mask can become a distortion of who we really are, of what we really believe. It can take us away from the truth and into the abyss of ego. And while our ego is very necessary in the world, it's not everything. There are many parts to the psyche and there is an important connection to our thinking, our emotions and feelings and that coming together to bring out our actions and behavior. The understanding of those things help either create our mask and or our inner world. It helps us understand the importance of connections within ourselves and outside of ourselves. And what our behavior does within those connections on both ends,
06there's a sense of control of what we can control and what we can't control within and without of ourselves, depending on the intensity of what our spirit creates, of what our internal consciousness creates, of what our mentality creates. And how all of the interactions that we deal with from childhood to adulthood and all of those inner interactions that are compiled with how we developed mentally, emotionally, spiritually. And what all of those things create a need for acceptance and how everything connects to the mask that we wear to the world. How we show up in the world or don't. How we thrive in the world or sink. How we love in the world
10or feel left out. Nothing can show us who we are like we can. The point of discovering ourselves through the presentation that we present and what that's doing internally and determining the signs of what's needed and what's not. And seeing how our reactions and interactions are assigned, everything we do, everything we say, everything we believe, everything we feel, everything we think is a sign. It's a sign to show us something about ourselves. It's a sign to help us see ourselves when we're able to pay attention and take a look within ourselves as opposed to the look that we show everyone else. I'd like to thank you for taking these
11few moments to listen to what I have to say. I greatly, greatly appreciate you. So I'd like to ask you what do you think about the mask you feel you have to wear? When you think about it, how have you developed it? What created it? Is your mask connected to your true thoughts and emotions presented in a more structured way or is your mask completely disassociated with who you really are when you think about your presentation to the world? What does your mask present to people and what does that presentation tell you about yourself? I'd love to hear from you. Please comment or email the love of self podcast at gmail.com. Please remember I am not a therapist. I wish you
12all peace, love, and joy always. Until next time.
