Marquette Loses Pearson, Seeks Transfer Portal Replacement

0:00On April 22nd, Marquette just lost a big piece of their front court puzzle before he even stepped on the court. Sheik Pearson, the 6-foot-11 center, is hitting the NCAA transfer portal after red-shirting his freshman year. The Golden Eagles announced it on April 21st. You could spot Pearson grinding in team workouts that the school posted lately. But they scooped up Sinanda Fru from the portal too, and he set to eat up major minutes next season. Pearson was pegged as Marquette's center of the future. He ditched his senior year at John Burles High School in St. Louis, reclassified to join early, bringing that length and bounce perfect for lobs, and swats. The team still rolls with 6-foot-9 Kate and Hamilton, and 7-foot-1 Josh Clark as back up bigs. Now they've got two open scholarship spots to fill. Marquette's rebuilding that depth chart quick, so keep an eye on who they snag next to stay competitive in the Big East.
