On April 2nd, plans are moving forward for a brand new Marks & Spencer Superstore in South Rua Slipp, set to take over the spot from the range at. Victoria Retail Park on Crown Road. This would bring M&S back to the area after they shut their high street branch back in 2018. The store would boast a massive 61,000 square foot sales for across ground level and a new mezzanine plus a huge food hall in store. Bakery and top notch wine picks. To make it happen, M&S filed two planning applications with Hillington Council, including tearing down the old home base garden center. They had modernized the outside with fresh white cladding, black brickwork, and big glass windows, ditching the old entrance pods and roof. They'd also add extra mezzanine space for closed sales and staff areas. Workers at the range haven't heard a peep about this and are stressing over losing their jobs. On the flip side, the new store could create up to 123 positions with M&S promising to hire locals first and roll out there, Marks & Star program, for folks facing tough barriers

like single parents or those with disabilities. Parking stays mostly the same off Crown Road, with a slight tweak losing just four spaces overall, but gaining spots for disabled drivers, parents with, kids, and bikes. 34 secure cycle spots in total, plus new trolley bays. Council's still reviewing it all, with public comments closing April 15th. So keep an eye out for the green light that could reshape shopping in, South Ruizlip.
