Mariners' Spring Loss: Healthy, No Drama

The Seattle Mariners dropped a spring training game to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, but it was the kind of boring loss everyone wants. No injuries, no drama, just practice baseball doing its job. These early gains are all about staying healthy and shaking off rust, and that's exactly what happened. Logan Gilbert took the mound for four innings and looked sharp overall. He ran into trouble in the second, with the bases loaded after a hit batter, a walk, and a single. What he struck out the next guy on a nasty splitter, and got a pop-out to escape clean. He allowed just two hits, two walks, and two strikeouts while keeping everyone healthy. The Mariners bats struggled, especially the depth players, but a couple prospects stood out. Burnin' Donovan grabbed two hits, and Colt Emerson walked and singled. The rest of the lineup went quiet until the bottom of the eighth. That's when they scratched out their only run.
