I have to admit something. I'm burying the lead. Yes, that means I'm holding on to the most important part of this story until the very end. The absolute end as in when it's last call time. But if you decide to stick with me until the end of the broadcast experience, you might just agree and that's my goal. Yes, this is truly the most important part of the story because tonight the second season shifts into gear in W.H.L. hockey. Tonight in Edmonton, you can feel the pulse of play off hockey, rippling through the city, a heartbeat shared by fans who've waited all year for the spark of hope. The old Kings aren't just enjoying the late season surge, the care in a sense of destiny into Rogers place. You see it when Sochen and Alinka connect on the ice, anticipating each other's moves. Ethan McKenzie, surging up from the blue line, is playing for pride and the crests for every kid who dreamed of this moment. But don't count out the blades. Yes, the team built on grit, a group of young men who refused to be counted out in the amount of the odds. They skate with underdog fire, every stride fueled by belief that heart can change destiny. In goal, Evan Gardner stands steady under pressure, a last line of defense and an anchor.
The team looks to him when the moment gets heavy and the stakes rise. Night after night, Gardner turns away shot after shot, refusing to yield until he faces the old Kings. And we'll get to that this Monday afternoon and more. Lots more because I will have a junior hockey report. I really need to say this as we enter junior hockey playoffs with dozens of buses crisscrossing the country with hundreds of young men. Their dreams ready to take place. Let's make sure they all arrive safe. All you have to do is mention two names of two junior hockey towns who make a stop and think about driving. Towns with current and humbles. We'll never forget. Enjoy the playoffs. Two minute warning. Camtate sports 1440.
