Manhunt for Murder Suspect in Orange County

0:00In Durham, it's March 6th, and here's what is going on. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is searching for 53-year-old Matthew Jared Rookmer, accused of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 54-year-old Paula Floyd. It happened Friday morning inside a home in the Wingay community, southeast of Hillsboro. Vokimer is described as a 5'11 white man with no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt in green shorts, driving a dark colored Ford super-duty truck with the license plate JL-6-012. Sheriff Charles Blackwood expresses deepest condolences to Floyd's family and friends. He stressed the need to take Vokimer into custody quickly and urged the public to stay alert for him or his truck. Officials have not released details on any relationship between Vokimer and Floyd. Meanwhile, they warn that he could still be armed with a knife or other weapon. Officers consider Rookmer dangerous and advise calling 9-1-1 if you spot him, do not approach.
